Notability 11.0: A Disappointing Update!

Notability recently announced the 11.0 update that turned the app free, or so it seemed. With the update, current users (like myself) discovered that after a year we'd be downgraded to the free tier.

As someone who has purchased apps on iPad and Mac, I feel this is disingenuous. At the very least, current users should be grandfathered in.

It seems notability has heard everyone's complaints because they mentioned giving permanent lifetime access to previously purchased content in 11.0.2. This includes unlimited editing.

1:40 They’ve fixed this in Version 11.0.2. Anyone who purchased the Paid App version before the update, i.e Before Nov 1 2022, will have lifetime access to all the features they had before the update.

So you’ll just be missing out on templates, stickers etc etc.

Yea fr, you could have just kept the older version with no more updates and make a brand new app that uses sub mode and have new updates

I was a user of notability since one year but since the new update I choose Apple Notes which I used before. With Apple I am more confident. And Apple Notes makes things that a paid app like notability doesn’t (tab for instance). For me it’s the best alternative .

I downloaded this app when it became free because I can't pay to buy it...Now it tells me everything I enter into the app is approaching usage limit and your notes will become read_only .. what is Means ?

I purchased Notability last year. Just this Morning i couldn’t sync with my icloud. And not just that, all my notes for the past last year all gone! Because of me trying all ends to configure syncing back to icloud coz the pop up in notability says there was a problem with my icloud. Turns out the problem is not in my system but with them! Oh the frustration!

My problem with Notability is that after updating to ios15.1 I can not open notes with a password!

Another issue is that they keep pushing updates. I cannot open my iPad notes on my MBP because the version is too old. And I cannot install the newer version unless I install the new MacOS, which is about the last thing I'll do. Did it last time and it sucked. Big thumbs down. 👎👎👎
