I am 67 years of age, my message to younger people is, we feel we have to excel, because we have the ability to adapt and work around these reading problems. I have made a good living, I am not rich or poor just OK, it's thanks to my intelligence that helped me. Unlike me do not feel ashamed of your situation and above all don't let it control your life be what you want to be.

I wasn't diagnosed until I was 39 along with my son who was in second grade. I had noticed that he could generally manage one syllable words if he wasn't frustrated. His teacher was only teaching "whole word" reading, unfortunately he was very 'rule' orientated so wasn't open to my method of coping by reading by syllables. He finally accepted that dad did have valid ways of doing things and that teachers may not always be right. Spelling was another matter until he got a job as a layout editor with the local paper - I could pick out the pages that he did as, 1) there were no spelling errors, 2) words were used correctly, 3) articles that were cut to fit the allotted space flowed such that it was not noticeable. For myself words like form are a flashing neon sign when it should be from, but the opposite is also true.

When I was in third grade I was sent to a tutor for a bogus reason, she picked that out very quickly so started with flash cards of multi syllable words. She noticed that once I got a word I would repeat that word if a card with a word that started with the same syllable was shown. Her solution was read, read and read to increase my vocabulary along with a quick question after each sentence that I read "did that make sense" (that is automatic now) if yes then continue but if no then go back and read by syllables (and yes, sometimes it is just a poorly written sentence). Sometimes my misreading is pretty funny 🤪.

Hello🐼🐼🐼🦜🦜🦜🐧🐧🐧🐕🐶, 🐦
God the Father loves you so much that He sent Holy and Sinless Jesus (His Holy Son) to earth to be born of a virgin. He grew up and died on a cross for our sins. He was in the tomb for 3 days, then Father God raised Jesus Christ (Y'shua) to Life! He appeared to people and went back to Heaven. We must receive Jesus sincerely to be God's childJohn 1:12. "But as many as received Him, to them He gave power to become the sons of God, even to them that BELIEVE on HIS name." That is great news! Will you sincerely receive Holy, Lord Jesus into your life today?
