Because the brain is aware of you biting it on purpose and can protect it, but when you bite it on accident the brain has nothing to do to protect it so thats why it hurts.

Since when we do it on purpose, we are mentally prepared to feel the pain, so it doesn’t affect us as much. But by accident, we don’t expect it, so the shock makes it mor e painful in my opinion.

True answer is that no one who bites their tongue on purpose if gives it the same force that they do when biting it by accident because ouch!!!

It depends on the strength when you're eating. You just don't wanna hurt yourself, so you don't get blood loss. But if it's accidental, it causes blood loss and pain. I recommend using folded tissue instead of cleaning cotton because cotton strands can make messes or hazard.

Because, when you bite your tongue accidentally, you are applying full force to chew your food. When doing it on purpose you aren’t really applying much force.

Unexpected pain hurts more then expected pain, but I still think it's funny when I fall for these 😆

Whenever you’re biting your tongue on purpose, you’re doing it at a intensity that you can handle without getting hurt, but if you’re biting it on accident, you were most likely chewing on something, teeth use a lot of force to eat/chew things so it uses that force to chomp down on your tongue.

“911, what is your emergency?”

“I have a stalker”

“Okay stay calm. How do you know you have a stalker? Can you see them?”

“Well you see… I bit my tongue-“

*hangs up*

Well, my prediction is that we bite harder by accident, since we are eating, and we are trying to crush the food up. Also, you usually bite the end of your tongue by accident, maybe biting a tiny bit of skin off, instead of biting it on purpose in the middle.

This gives me "Why do you get scared when someone scares you when you weren't expecting it but you don't get scared when you were expecting it?" vibes.

The reason we get hurt on accident is because it wasn’t on command.
