We're not saying the PPP didn't help many people... But are we saying some of the money was spent lavishly and used for unintended purposes? Yes.

The real tragedy of this story is the small businesses that had to permanently close their doors because there was no money left to disperse.

This report does not list large corporations that also received the funds in excess of what was actually needed.

2:00 the real crime is paying $90k on a Lincoln. I wouldn't want to be seen driving one even if I was paid.

The way PPP worked here was 1/Your business had to exist before the pandemic (2019) & 2/The employees had the money direct debited to their payroll account (an account the individual has at a bank) This system stopped a lot of shysters from defrauding the government, but it also kicked a lot of small start-ups with cash employees square in the nuts!

most of those who used ppp money for themselves will never be held accountable for their abuse.

I don't know how these people got the loans to begin with. I couldn't get a PPP loan as an independent contractor (engineer), and had to get a job doing manual labor to help make ends meet.

Jeezus I know quite a few egregious purchases by business owners. Boats, cars and trucks, side by sides, french bulldogs etc....

These financial faux pas need to be added to the Definitely Not My Crimes list.

That doesn't start to cover the money stuffing pockets in Congress.

Were there no checks to make sure these people were telling the truth when they applied? Why were some of these people even given loans.

Oh wow. I grew up going to Stonecrest all the time… mainly because it was just a mall. Still weird to me that a mall became a city.

LOL, not that it matters but the photo shown with the bit about the Alpaca farm is of a Llama. Similar but not the same animal. Maybe that is why the alpaca farm was not successful?? They had LLamas instead? GRIN.

I will never understand the mindset of some of these things people buy when they get into money. A new mansion sounds great, but if your funds run low you still have to deal with property taxes and huge monthly bills. Expensive cars are flashy and cool, but repairing them when the money runs low will be a B-word. I don't fish and don't live anywhere near a lake or ocean, and the one river I live near I wouldn't bother living on, so I wouldn't bother with a boat. I would just get a new modest home not in an unincorporated township, take some vacations I wanted, and invest and donate the rest if I ran into money. You have to think of the future if you don't have a regular source to keep the money flowing in to maintain the lavish gifts. And I would NOT have done a false PPP loan.

accountability is really so uneven in the US 17yrs for stealing 2 milli vs 4 yrs for investing stolen money in another case. All of them should have been sentenced equally
