Aiden, I love your super-practical advice to those starting out. The P4 and a couple of Podmics got me up and running with minimal investment and helped me learn the ins and outs of production over a few months. It is still my portable recorder and is my first choice for mobility if I can secure a space to use it in. True mobile recording "in the field" is a completely different beast. Keep on keeping it real.

One thing I'd like you to cover sometime -- can you define "podcast?" I've started to make YouTube videos, and I've basically been putting together podcast gear and watching channels like yours for podcast gear reviews -- but I'm not sure I'm trying to do a podcast. It's me talking at a camera with lots of motion graphics. What makes a piece of gear right for "podcast" and how is a podcast context different than a youtube context? Is Shorts a different context with a different concentration of gear? Thanks for your videos, they have been very helpful.

So easy to spend (or at least charge), so quick to regret. Thanks for the solid advice, and have a great holiday.

For someone on a budget looking to get multiple people on mics at the same time the XM8500 at the current price of $13.50 is insane. Feed them to a Podtrak P4 and you're all set for under 200 bucks.

Great video! I’m trying to set up the “ultimate” portable video podcast/youtube studio that will allow me to broadcast from anywhere. I plan to use 3 iPhones for multi cam recordings, and the Black Magic camera app. I’m looking for the best (affordable) solution to export the 4k video but ATEM mini pro will only output 1080p. Could do a video on this type of set up or give your recommendations on how to achieve it? Thanks!!

Hi and thanks for the great video!

As a traveling entrepreneur and musician, I have already created my ultimate portable audio recording studio, but now I will start filming too and I wonder what would be the ultimate portable light setup. I've already maxed out my luggage with audio equipment, instruments and two pair of jeans, so I think the only thing I could fit into my luggage is a small LED key light and a pocket RGB LED back light.

Is a small LED key light and a pocket RGB LED back light enough to make my videos look semi-professional?

If so, what is the smallest, most portable and quiet LED key light and pocket RGB LED back light you would recommend in order to get the best possible result within these restrictions?
Any answers would be very much appreciated.

Thanks for creating awesome and helpful content!

Great great job on this video and presentation sir.... Ive been wondering what TASCAM is going to to next since the supply on Mixmaster 4's is nearly depleted and the price was dropped and no successor has been named. I currently run a TASCAM miscast 4, and I absolutely love it, I get tons of compliments on the audio quality and it's neem a fun board to use. however, It would be sad to see TASCAM leave the market. Again, thanks for an excellent presentation, you are spot on about the market lacking mid level or higher end gear. take care and keep up the great content!!

In 2025 is the first rodecaster pro for $200. Is that a good deal. Does it still perform well? I have AT2020 mics.

Regarding style and sound, do not over look the Shure SM57 with wind sock.. looks good, sounds a bit better than a 58 or 58b.. good resale etc

What budget friendly setup/gear would you recommend for video podcast.

Also what is the gear you use for this video?

I was waiting to see if you mentioned the Mackies - which Curtis J apparently prefers over the Rodecasters with their larger screens and (I think) more intuitive interface/menus. Same company now so let's hope the competition isn't quashed. Just wanted to mention a mic option I've liked the sound of in all comparisons - and as a mic snob I was ready to dismiss any company name I don't see in pro studios - but I think the Maono HD 300 has won me over. Looks cool too (kinda like the great Lauten Audio LS-208). Amazing value with what appears to be a decent shock mount and pop filter. And despite being a dynamic it almost sounds condensery. At the budget mic end too I think it's worth mentioning the Behringer XM8500, and if mentioning the SM58s I feel the sE V7 which gives it more than a run for its money at a similar price point should also be in the picture.

Thanks for the video.I'm pretty new to this.I ended up getting the Rodecaster Duo. I had a cheap audio interface but ended up returning it I'm hoping I'll get a lot more out of the duo. I currently have a Lewitt 440 Pure Microphone and it's great.
