Excellent advice concerning play between any dogs. Controlling play, when it starts, when and how it ends and it's intensity is every bit as important as controlling the walk, food, toys or bathroom behavior.

Back when we still had our chihuahua, we never once worried about our bigger dogs hurting her, SHE was the one who would hurt THEM.
They never really fought back against her because they understood she was small and couldn't handle the same kind of play the bigger dogs could handle, but that didn't stop her from giving it back to them like she was a Rottweiler or something.
Worst thing that ever happened was one of our bigger dogs would swat her with his paw and push her to the ground. But she'd get right back up, madder than ever, and chase him out of the house and into the backyard.

Small dogs don't fuck around.

I have a Yorkie and and Australian Cattle dog. They are together supervised, but not really allowed to "play". It's not that I think my Cattle dog WOULD bite her in half, it's that he COULD bite her in half. And that is a risk that I am not willing to take.
