I give sloane some credit. She lost with class. She looked at her opponent shook her hand and said nice match as opposed to Anismova who had no class. quick shake while looking away. I once had a basketball coach who said you win with class and you lose with class.

Rune also just stopped working with Moratoglu (again) with no real explanation....he seems unstable

Holger Rune is quoted in Danish media saying then he suffered from a knee problem. It made it difficult for him to serve (only 39% first serves) and hit backhands. In my book Rune playing slightly injured most of the year is the main reason for his inconsistent level. That said Nakashima is a solid player

….Rune’s problems appear to be the demands on his character and personality in a very very tough business….

A similar thing happened to Donna Vekic against Olga Danilović at Roland Garros this year. She bageled Olga and was dominating the match and then Olga made an insane comeback. The worst choke job to me will always be Guillermo Coria at the French Open Finals in 2004. He had only lost a single set that entire Roland Garros run before choking the huge lead in the finals and not being able to convert a couple of championship points. I'm a huge Coria fan and that match still hurts to think about so I can only imagine how he feels.

Nakashima has beaten some great players (Isner?). He must have done some incredible training to get back where he is playing now

Really hope you're right and Rune finds his footing.

Nick, Nakashima reminds you of Sampras because he tried to emulate Sampras as a junior. You can see it in his serve, body language, and demeanor. He even walks around with his head hanging down some in between points like Sampras. Good eye Nick!

Rune reminds me of Berdych mentally. We see the strength and fire power but weak upstairs. He’s scared to lose more than plays to win.

I wonder what you think of extended rackets like the solinco xtd 18 x 20. it is 27.5 inches. Hard on arm??Elbow?? any downsides...

I don’t think there will be a New Big 3 unless it’s the usual Djokovic, Alcaraz, Sinner 😂

Regard Sloane Stephens reviewing her 'workflow' to find possible solutions. What?? ..Let us review her whole carrer. She had 2 great years in 2017 and 2018. She won the US Open in 2017 and was a runner up in both Roland Garros and the WTA Finals in 2018. She reached top 5 in singles ranking around that time.
. I have seen her play personally several times. She was known as a counter pouncher and usually does not make many unforced errors. She was one of the best movers on court. All this is great. But the sad fact is that she turned pro more than 10 years ago and has won 8 titles in her career including the major...that is winning less than one title per year.

Why has she not achieved more? She has had her share of injuries and various coaching changes. But this is true of other players. So I hope when she examines her 'workflow', she finds the answer to this mystery.🎾

My impression is that Rune could benefit tremendously from a coach like Brad Gilbert. Gilbert is pragmatic and has a great eye for a player's strengths and weaknesses.

Sloane was killing Burel in the beginning. The crowd was behind her from the start, but then they started cheering for Burel to get back into the game and she took that energy and took it to the end. I became a fan!

Great explanations Coach about my fellow Dane Rune .The controled offensiv is alweays a difficult issue and it"s has to be in focus- Rune has to start with doing a cosistent serv
and I personally knows how much my friend Kenneth Carlsen are into statistics . If the 1 serv don"t hit you have to have a big, big kicken on the second ! What I like about Rune is
he appoach the net more ofte, but he has to have a consistent serv to do it.But Rune might be engired so what to do.Anyway .But can Iga go fare . Think she is a little shaky seeing
her play firsr round?

I’ve seen Holger practicing in Dubai (a year ago), while himself being on holiday with his family; seeing his backhand practice, then missing like two balls (into the net), and then out of anger plays 3/4 balls purposely all the way to someone’s backyard.
I think having a practice day shouldn’t be like this, but having fun.
Summary: He’s not there mentally & talent isn’t playing a big role as tennis is a mental game; (even though has achieved some success like 500 or Masters); just my opinion…needs to control his emotions & not to show to his opponent!
+ being on the tour with Carlos & Jannik, he wont get the Slam, but however, never say never, wish him all the best!

the courts seem faster than previous year. short rallies, a lot "almost aces".
