'...busy winning titles'....he's won 4, so far.
Any top player will 'want to be No 1, can win an all-court game, hit hard from the baseline, change the pace, play at the net and pumpi his fist'. Nothing exceptional about any of that. He does not possess 'a UNIQUE combination of speed, agility and power' Several players are his equal in those characteristics. Neither is he merely 'a good tennis playert'. He is currently ranked No 6 in the world. That's much better than 'good'.
Beating several top seeds in one event, however, is worth mentioning along with $5 M of winnings by age 20. And McEnroe advising against bad behaviour is priceless.

When he wins he's the best cannot do anything wrong, but if he loses he cannot do anything right. It's the media who messes with these kids heads. Other tennis players have behaving like this for years including the joker

There is something about Rune and his whole demeanor that's just odd and makes him not a likable person. The opposite with Alcaraz and Sinner, they have a great demeanor and extremely likable personality.

He really is a very good player but he is also very immature. Time will gradually give him the maturity he needs.

He was only 18-19 when these events happened and he’s still young. We need to remember this, and understand that players usually get “stuck” at the age they go pro and get success, for rune that being only 18.

Has anyone seen Holger congratulated Andrey on the stage at Monte Carlo? Holger's not bad bad at all, it's just the media that demands DRAMA

A: What kind of personality traits do you associate a danish person with?
B: Calm, collected, and cold blooded - basically a modern day Viking

He definitely is prone to being "unlikable" to most, but then I remember young Federer, and that impression goes away with time.

One needs to separate passion and determination with immature and emotional behaviour. One doesn't equal the other. To deem his behaviour acceptable, because he is passionate, is like saying I beat up my wife because I love her passionately. It's a rubbish excuse.

why is the media portraying Holger Rune as an enfant terrible?? yes, he has his emotional outbursts on court, but many tennis players do. Holger is just very passionate about his play and he is an emotional person. but he is young and is still maturing in his tennis practice and denanour on court. if you watch and listen to him in the press conferences, he is professional, reflective on his performance and acknowledges his opponents qualities. So, media: don't criticize Holger so much. He is a rising star, maturing in his tennis practice, composure and demeanour. how about praising him for his energy, ambition and determination instead of criticising him?? I would welcome that. Hopefully there will be a good rivalry between Rune and Alcaraz

Rune is hardworking, passionate and ambitious. Nothing crazy about that. I say leave him alone. He is maturing and getting better.

I think he's already made major improvements on that front.

I think Rune is one of my favorite players and is probably behaving like this as a consequence for his intense desire and drive to the #1 spot. He wants it so bad that he'll do anything, to anyone, to get his way. Yet at the same time, I also believe anger issues should be a diagnosed mental condition that requires proper treatment to manage. The lack of anger is why track athlete Alcaraz is number one.

He’s human for Pete sakes. That’s why tennis is dying. People are looked down upon if they show any emotion. Wouldn’t you be mad if an umpire made a horrible mistake that costed you a critical point.

He’s stated that he’s incredible nervous at the start of each game. He probably needs to get into the right state of mind and get is crank going.
Besides… it’s good for any sort of entertainment to have a good villain or antihero.
He also seems to be affected by severe ADHD, hence he can’t stand still for 2 sec.
How ADHD works is, our brain got a filter for all the information that it receives from the world. If you got ADHD, that filter is checkered, which puts the brain under a heavy load. The brain compensate by shooting out adrenaline to the body, which in turn makes you ready to deal with danger in front of you, like enhanced reflexes, laser focus on potential danger and whatnot… but you’re tense and can’t sit still, nor focus on reading a book and such.
ADHD is not a static thing. Some are more affected than others, and if you were let’s say a caveman, it would probably have huge benefits.

Im Danish and yes the first one where he says a homophobic slur is a bad word, but its a word that is a normal swear word in schools here (Atleast when i was a kid), alot of people say it without meaning it just as a swear word. There is no way he meant to be homophobic. The fine was acceptable, but im sure he didnt mean it like that.
