There are Three Key Words in the Book of Proverbs: Knowledge, Understanding, and Wisdom.
Knowledge: Acquiring facts about things as they are.
Understanding: Properly interpreting those facts.
Wisdom: Practically applying those facts to real life.
1. Fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom. (1 Cor. 1v24; Prov 1v20, 8v1, 9v1-5; Prov 9v10; Ps 111v10; Mt 10v28)
2. Wisdom prepares for the future, it doesn’t procrastinate in the present. (Prov 6v6-8; Mt 25v8; Mt 7v26; Gen 41v34)
Way of the Ant:
Self-motivation without external pressure
Timeliness without procrastination
Preparation for the future, not short-sighted
The 5 Marks of a Sluggard:
1. Procrastination (Prov 20v4)
2. Neglect of Duties (Prov 24v30-34).
3. Love of Sleep (Prov 6v9-11)
4. Making Excuses (Prov 22v13)
5. Lack of Initiative
The 5 Consequences of a Sluggard:
1. Poverty: Neglecting work and responsibilities leads to financial instability and lack (Prov 10v4)
2. Unfulfilled Needs: Needs remain unmet due to their inaction (Prov 20v4)
3. Ruin and Decay: Deterioration of one’s property and resources (Prov 24v30-34)
4. Public Dishonor: Poor reputation and scorn within the community (Prov 12v24)
5. Dependency: Dependent on others due to their unwillingness to take care of themselves.
3. Wisdom flees temptation, not flirts with it. (Prov 14v16, 16v6, 5v8)
Wisdom is more a moral quality rather than an intellectual one. Being "foolish" means being godless (Ps. 14v1; 2 Sam. 13v13).
Wisdom doesn’t just run from sin; it avoids situation that leads to sin.
