In this week’s episode, I'll show you how I would learn photo editing if I had to start over. I'm coming up on my 10 year photo editing anniversary and knowing what I know now, if I had to start over today, I'd begin using Capture One from the very beginning! Not only does the RAW processing power, in my opinion, far surpass the market, but also the tools and the lack of limitations placed on those tools makes Capture One the most powerful and best photo editing platform for my editing workflow. In this video, I'll walk you through how I have Capture One 22 setup in order to create a highly functional, organized, and streamlined workspace along with some of my favorite tools and features that I use on just about every landscape photo I edit. Interesting (and timely) vid. By coincidence, the June update of LR includes many/most of the features you seem to like most about Capture One, including the equivalent of an opacity slider for masks and presets, as well as better approaches to intersecting masks, customizing presets, etc. Nothing like a bit of competition to drive progress, benefiting us all!

Great video Mark! I started with Lightroom but switched to Capture One about two years ago. I'm aware that Lr has made some improvements recently, but C1 is so much more flexible and once you become comfortable with it, easier to use. It also doesn't lag like Lr does (or did the last time I used it). Please keep the C1 videos coming.

I started using Capture One Pro in late November 2021. At first, I just didn't get it. But I kept going back and giving it another go. Over the past six months, I have changed my entire workflow from Lr/Ps to Capture One Pro. I feel like I get better results with less work, but without compromising my ability to really get creative. I still use Photoshop and Adobe Camera RAW occasionally, but I've deleted all of my Lightroom catalogs and don't plan to use Lightroom anymore. Even more than the better RAW conversion and the flexibility of being able to apply any adjustments to any layer, I have fallen completely in love with Capture One sessions.

It is great to see you using it, as well. I would absolutely love to see more videos from you about how you are using Capture One Pro.

Thanks for this video!I am actually using ON1 FW and based on your video, it seems to have all the features C1 is offering (except the customising of the interface).However I am very tempted to step over to Capture 1, as I heard many positives about it and the quality of the demosaicing process.A great addition would be an intro video on the organising and cataloguing (sessions).

I watched this with interest Mark and its a great walkthrough of your workflow, but looking at the pricing of Capture One I wouldn't be tempted away from The Adobe Photography Plan, also, I`ve spent years learning LRC, buying books on it etc it would be a massive culture shock and learning experience to go over to another piece of software now. Great video though as usual Mark, I do love your easy way of presenting things.
