Build a lift panel for Isaac (and James!) - UPDATE FROM JUNE 2018 (P8)

I recorded this in June 2018. I need to do another one as these boards are 99% complete now.
I've written a lot of the coding which I will also go through in a later video, with a few new features.
So very soon DONE, POSTED and TWO HAPPY KIDS! (and a very happy mrmatt also!).

(Neg views-see below)
From my personal collection of lift parts, I'm going to use some of them to send to couple of kids.
This is not just any project, it's a mrmattandmrchay (and LazyTechNerd) project!! This means "attention to detail" and "perfection" becomes very important XD

####

It's a free world, but before leaving neg views please consider the nature of this video and why I'm doing it. I'm proud to show the world who I am and what I'm doing to help a couple of kids. Spreading a little kindness towards others is a good thing. If you think otherwise then perhaps it reveals more about you than me.

#### ABOUT ISAAC ####
Isaac is 9 years old and is a twin, he lives with his parents and his sister Naomi – who, I’m informed, absolutely adores him.
Isaac has very complex needs, having a diagnosis of severe autism (he is non-verbal), significant learning difficulties, neurofibromatosis type 1, visual impairment and a tumour on his brain.
Isaac loves routine, Bing Bunny on CBeebies, and eating!
But his favourite thing of all is lifts! He watches them on YouTube at any opportunity. From the age of 3, Isaac has adored lifts. He flaps and gets so excited every time he see’s one. He seems to instinctively know any shop that has one and where they are even if he has never been there before!
He loves the doors opening and closing, the buttons, watching people disappear in them, the noise the lift makes and the floor announcements. He is never happier than when he is close by or inside a lift!
Isaac does not play with toys. He struggles to engage with other people and gets so frustrated at not being able to communicate.

Thanks for watching :)

Do you know if there is a way to wire a Raspberry PI to a LOGILIFT AF17C Dotmatrix indicator?

One thing I don’t get is how can 3v leds in series burn out with 5v? It should be able to withstand 6v with 2 3v leds in series

You can put a mettal front plate around the Buttons to match the Buttons front Design

I wish I could make something like that. Of course with my luck break it in a day, but still awesome!

If you need any lanterns that I've got you can let me know and I'll give you the ones I've got to make them for good use, or could give them away for him as well as these ones?

Looks real nice. As a suggestion for future projects, you could look into using something like a ULN2003A Darlington Transistor chip instead of that big pile of individual transistors. Or if you want full RGB abilities just go with WS2812B "neopixel" LEDs and have the added bonus of way less wiring too. ;-)

When the lift arrives it should play the Mitsubishi down chime :) BTW is there any way to obtain said chime other than recording it?

You could run those button LEDs at 24v if you used some relays.

You don't need to cut the power every time, there is a reset button on the arduino board.

Where did you get the buttons? I tried looking it on dewhurst's website to order it but it keep saying The site can't be reached.
