2025 MINI Cooper S (F66) Review

A few months ago, we had the chance to film the all-new 2025 MINI Cooper S F66. The gasoline-powered Cooper was present at a secret location and we teamed up with Oliver Heilmer, head of MINI Design, to explore its new styling.

In this video, Oliver talks about the exterior and interior design of the F66 MINI Cooper S, pointing out some of the differences also from the MINI Cooper Electric. In the front, the new MINI has a more simple bumper design that no longer has the vertical slats that the outgoing F56 got as part of its second facelift. The apron also appears to have a slightly different shape, and it stays horizontal all the way across the bumper; it doesn’t kick up where it meets the grille as it did on the older model. The grille itself appears to have an identical outline to the outgoing model’s, but its inner design is different.

The shape of the 2025 MINI Cooper S F66 is different to follow the contour of the light clusters, and the bumper has a simpler, more minimalist shape than before. It’s so minimalist that there is no longer a visible exhaust pipe poking through the faux diffuser, even though the vehicle shown in the photos is a Cooper S.

Inside, the 2025 MINI Cooper S features a new 9.4-inch circular OLED infotainment display that runs the new MINI Operating System 9.

This is an exclusive first video of the 2025 MINI Cooper S so let's take a look!

I'm sooo disappointed in the direction MINI has taken with the clear focus on minimalism in their approach rather that celebrating the sporty larger than life appeal that has made the brand so celebrated the world over. They have bacically just sucked all the life out of the car with nothing that really pleases the eye or is exciting in terms of what MINI has offered in previous gens.

Am I crazy or does this look more like a facelift than an actual new gen? Also hiding the exhaust is the wrong move imo. The bulk of Mini enthusiasts that I've met are going to dislike that. They've basically removed all the "sportiness" with this minimalistic design language. Who told them that was a good idea? It certainly wasn't current Mini owners.

Respectfully, if they were worried about sales declining with the F56 Gen, they really will be worried now, it looks atrocious

No exhaust tips, no side scuttles, and the front end from the EV ….BMW must have hired the fired Bud Light advertising executive 😂! My wife purchased a 2024 Cooper S with the 6 Speed manual in September…. glad she did before they came out with this thing !!

The car looks good as a whole. The sucky aspect is the lack of visible exhaust. I feel as if that apart of the dna. First there is no manual and now no exhaust? Come on now MINI. We want these things.

Every time he said “we decided to focus on what was necessary” it really means “we cut cost” got rid of the vents and angles in the front to save production cost. And removed the FINISHED exhaust so they didn’t have to design a rear diffuser or muffler.
You got to fire a whole interior design department because you got rid of all of the buttons inside for a screen (that has a load time when you change drive modes the software is so bad) so there is zero elements of Mini inside.

But somehow this is going to be the most expensive mini ever! They are going to price people out if looks and “miniacs” don’t like this.

Very very very sad to see them ignore their customers and leave them with this for their option. I’m going to drive my 24 jcw laughing anytime I see one of these (if anyone buys one)

Nice looking car but whoever came up with the taillight design ought to be demoted!

The f56 was really the peak of the brand, also why mini puts a guy like this (clearly not a car guy) behind the project?very sad.

Such a disappointing "upgrade", they did not even bothered changing the doors, they are exactly the same as a 2014 model. And the rear is so out of place. No Cooper S features too, it seems a basic Cooper. I knew we were getting the old car again but hoped for something better.

Is there any improvement in the body structure or under body? is it satisfactory to the enhanced crash test criteria?

Overall I’m liking the new Mini 😊 those taillights 🫢 are growing on me 😏 I prefer the previous models lights.

I’m so happy I managed to buy the F56, which will be my last MINI unfortunately….

Bar the taillights, it's so refreshing to see that the ICE Mini looks exactly like a Mini should look, unlike the SE (plastic unpainted spats on the fenders, which as a Mini owner, are absolute panels saviours). Shame though that tailpipes are hidden and as a cooper s doesn't have the hood scoop, not functional anymore but certainly characteristic of the S

I’m glad to see more fun colors again, I have been so disappointed in the color options the last couple of generations. I’m also a classic mini lover, my first ‘adult’ car was a yellow mini that I was so thrilled about because it was like Mr Beans car!

No exhaust pipes is a huge mistake! That was such an important design detail to all of us Mini enthusiasts!

So, now exhaust became "not important"...maybe for you!
