How to repair water damaged drywall in one day!!

On this water damage repair project, the home owners had already removed the drywall. But they did not cut it out square or on a stud.
So, the first thing I had to do was cut the drywall square so it would be an easier and tight fight of the new drywall. Next I added a wood 1" x 2" furring strip to be able to secure the wall board since the it was cut just past the original framing of the home.

Can you please do another video where you actually show HOW to do the repair from Start to Finish? Thank you :)

I'm about to do some of this. I'm sure I can do it, but it will probably be really crappy because I've never done it before. That's the thing with people working on their own homes. There's just no experience...no way to really practice. I can watch all the youtube videos in the world and they DO help for sure, but it's not the same thing as doing it. What I appreciated about this video was that it was mostly real-time.

I think I'm going to knock a couple holes in my garage wall and repair them before I do what needs to be done inside the house. I'm sure that sounds stupid, but I can't think of any other way to get some experience without screwing up a real living space.

Alot of people are complaining about installing insulation and drywall. There are hundreds of videos for that. This was exactly what I needed. Because there are not alot of videos on drywall replacement of this size. Thank you sir

{Your Vids VS Other's} - I'm getting ready to repair a 12x12 square In the last 25 mins I've watched 5 videos about repairing drywall damage. After the 5th video I still felt like I didn't have any new information. Luckily I clicked on your video next cuz in just one video you explained and showed everything I needed. But most importantly I learned about technique, skill, what products works best, and the "how to's". Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I look forward to watching more of your videos.

WOW! You are really talented. It was a pleasure just watching you do that job. I live in a house full of horrible spackle jobs from former homeowners and contractors. I am trying to fix all of their mistakes.

I've been a handyman for the last 6 years and have tried doing drywall patch work like this a number of times and just recently decided to stop doing it. I never seemed to get the hang of it. When completed, it always looked like a first grader did the job. And I didn't know you could do all this in one day.

This is great, but I really needed to see how you fixed the drywall before smoothing on the mud. And what about the insulation?

Awesome work! Did you just tape the middle corner with paper tape? Did any of the other flat areas get tape? Or did I miss something? Thanks 😊

How did you cut the dry wall square or so straight horizontally and vertically?
And how did you cut out the hole in the dry wall at the precise position for the electric socket?

Hey how do I spackle 1 ft Flood Cuts but the new drywall pieces seem to sink in deeper than original wall? Not exactly flush at seem? Looks like both are 1/2 inch drywall. Not sure what the deal is

I wanted to see how the drywall was “squared up.” Did you use some type of a straight edge? I had a minor flood from a pipe leak two years ago, probably no more than a half inch of water, but the house has had a mildew smell ever since. I’m planning to remove the baseboards and cut-off the lower 12” of drywall and replace it. I clicked this video because I wanted to see how that’s done. 😢
