My MRI Is 'Normal'.....Why Do I Still Have Pain?

It's amazing the amount of people who think that imaging findings will correlate with what their level of pain should be. I hear of some clinicians doing it too at times which is slightly concerning.

This viewer was told by their doctor that their MRI report was 'Normal for a 45 Year old'.... and I agree with that doctor having read the report.

What wasn't explained to the person was that this does not mean that there is no possible cause for their pain and disability. The correlation between imaging findings v symptoms is weak, and even if somebody has low levels of degenerative changes they can still have high levels of pain and vice versa.

I wanted to answer this question as this is a very common question i'm asked on a weekly basis.

After watching this video, you'll have a better understanding of why you might still have pain after an MRI has shown that your back is "normal."

My lumbar spine is normal according to my doctor but the MRI report said there is mild impression on the disc, doctor says it's nothing. I still have back pain when I sit for 20-30 mins. I'm 27 year old woman. What could be the reason? I'm really worried
