I personally went for used 5600 which cost me about 100 usd, seller bought it like 9 months ago so still had a warranty

5600x with a 6700xt here, playing 1440p with no issues, even in heavier games I can still get more than playable framerate without making the game look like it's from 2010.

Wait for 5700x3D benchmarks. If it’s only a ~5% decrease in performance to the 5800x3D, save the $100 and skip AM5 entirely.

He probably just wants to upgrade his CPU.
If you're on AM5 but wants the fastest, budget CPU, the Ryzen 5 7500F is easily the best CPU for budget gamers.

The 5900x runs about the same as the 5800x3d where i am. I make quite a bit of 3d renderings, and also photoshop quite a bit soo the extra cores are amazing for me

tbf since the price drops the 5800x3d is the best value here. yes you can cheap out but there will be no more am4 cpus might aswell buy the best one especially if its so cheap and later on just upgrade everything because you will need to anyway

Ryzen 9 5900x user here.
Don't buy it unless you have a 360r water cooler

I’m kinda surprised more people don’t talk about the Intel T skew chips. Not officially available in stores but they’re all over ebay. Pretty sure Intel only actually produces them for OEM small form factor computers like the optiplex from Dell.
I got a 13500T for $180 recently when the standard 13500 was still around $285 and super happy with performance. 6 4.6ghz P cores and 8 3.2ghz E cores, the T skew chips are 35W base power but with the motherboard I have this one can turbo to 106W. Scoring around 17, 200 on Cinebench R23 multi and 1, 700 on single after some quick BIOS adjustments.

I have a 5600x with a 7900xt, seems to work fine, cpu never seems to go over 40% on most games.

Just a heads up guys The ryzen 7 5700x is 30$ more than the 5600x and way better with 8 cores and lower temps than the 5800x and 3d

The x3D is specifically for better gaming/streaming because of the insane cache levels but not the best for rendering and video editing vs 5800x etc. I noticed decent upgrade in frames with mine

I think the best performance for less then 300 in my opinion is the ryzen 5 7600 if you’re gaming but if you’re needing more cores then maybe i5 13600kf or i5 13500 (I know he said for am4 but I’m saying by the prices of cpus i was seeing)

I have a 5600x with a 3080, it slaps. I love it!

Since it’s relevant to quite a few people, all of the X3D chips have very poor single-threaded performance, so you should keep that in mind if you play games that are heavily reliant on a single core

I actually ordered a 5700x from amazon for y first pc. They sent me a 5900x. I was worried at first, but i realized i went overkill on my cooling and psu so i got a free extra 4c and 8t
