The 2021 NHL Expansion Draft saw the @SeattleKraken begin building their opening night roster. I was there to cover the official unveiling of the team’s home and road jerseys!

In this video, I share my experience attending the Expansion Draft at Gas Works Park in Seattle. Get an inside look at the event beyond what you saw on TV. And more importantly, get a close up look at the sweaters the Kraken will wear during their inaugural season.

Among the people featured in this video are Kraken players Chris Driedger, Jordan Eberle, Brandon Tanev, Mark Giordano, Haydn Fleury, and Jamie Oleksiak along with Ron Francis, Dave Hakstol, John Forslund, J.T. Brown, and Everett Fitzhugh.

Awesome stuff! Can't wait to see these jerseys in action. My initial thoughts (to the mock-ups) were 'meh', but seeing them here changed my view of them completely. Very sharp, will be getting a Tanev one for sure.

Besides the giant logo (which has to be because of the thick dark blue outline, right?), two things that jumped out to me in the physical jerseys compared to the rendering:
First was the darkness of the main blue on the jerseys – it's definitely a "Deep Sea Blue" more than navy, like it looked in the renderings.
The other is the lightest blue ("Ice Blue") on the jersey striping. In the renderings, it looks a lot more white/washed out. But on the physical jerseys, it's very clearly a light shade of blue.

Both of these things, I think, work to the benefit of the look. It's almost like someone turned up the saturation and contrast a bit for the physical jerseys.
