12 Divided by 1/2 (Twelve Divided by One-Half)
Показать описание
To divide 12 by 1/2 we can either multiply the first fraction by its reciprocal OR we could find a common denominator for both fractions. In this video we'll use the reciprocal method. Both methods produce the same answer in fraction form.
First we change 12 ÷ 1/2
to
12 times 2/1 (12 x 2/1)
This gives us 24/1 which is equal to 24.
So 12 ÷ 1/2 = 24/1 also written as 24.
Note that if you multiplied 24 times 1/2 you would end with 12.
Multiplying a fraction by its reciprocal is often easier for more complicated fractions where finding a common denominator is more challenging.
