Oversteer is better because you don’t see the tree that kills you

Obviously RWD is more popular, but some great cars are FWD, so there is no real reason to bash on it.

FWD = perfect for Hot hatches
RWD = perfect for Sports coupes

You guys stfu, go out, and have fun with your own car instead of bashing each others on youtube comment section...

'Prefer?' is a difficult question. They can both kick ass. Arguably, these days front wheel drive technology allows really serious performance for those on a real-world budget, rear wheel drive generally being found in more expensive cars. But it isn't the compromise it once may have been. And most people with rear wheel drive cars, A: don't take them on track, and, B: don't drift them around roundabouts on public roads, so it's advantages are rarely exploited. Rear wheel drive will still give the purist, most engaging overall drive. But it's not the easy decision it was in years past.

So let's take both and combine them! --> 4WD :D

My childhood was crushed when i adopted many of my favorite cars from nfsu; rsx, integra, eclipse, celica, tiburon. And found out all had drive trains that just didnt belong in jdm sports cars

I was certain my next car would be rwd or awd. Then I drove the 10th gen SI and bought it on the spot. A limited slip eliminated torque steer and it actually ate up curves and felt planted and nimble at the same time. Do I regret passing up a WRX or Focus RS? Not that much. The shifter is better than the Subie and the RS has already had issues. FWD and AWD often shares the same handling complaint- understeer and a less than organic feel. RWD cars are more prone to swap ends but offer a seriously skilled driver a unique experience. But for most of us
fwd or awd is still fun and you live to tell about it. The Type R, Megane, and 205 all show how spectacular a well sorted fwd car can be.

I own both FWD and RWD and in all honesty a well sorted FWD car like a Fiesta RS or an Integra Type R are more than capable and just as engaging as their RWD counterparts.

I have an e46 bmw with rwd and a mazdaspeed 3 (3 mps) with fwd
Both are fun :)

FYI: Torque steer is a result of the driveshafts not being equal length. This is the case if you have the engine placed transversally, however, if the engine is longitudinally placed, with the gearbox placed behind (Front Wheel Drive, Front Engine) or before (FWD, Mid Engine) the engine, the driveshafts can be completely symmetrical, an there's no torque steer.

You forgot to mention tire heat/wear is not even on fwd since the front is doing everything (putting power down and manuvering)

Underrated pro of a fwd car is that there is no annoying hump in between your legs in the middle seat
