That’s true. I apply the Retinol after washing my face, I use a towel to remove the water, but it’s not that dry and my skin is still ok.

THANK YOU!! Most dermatologists nowadays don’t care about educating ppl on how to use a product. They’ll just prescribe things without paying attention to the fact that not using it properly can cause even more damage to the skin. After waiting months for an appointment to see them and their cold reaction to our issues is truly disappointing. I really appreciate how you took the initiative to educate ppl and share your knowledge❤

Yes retinol after serum and moisturizers has worked wonders for me! I’m super sensitive and retinol directly on my face was actually causing me more acne due to my skin barrier being broken and the retinol being too strong for me, I spent 2-3 years with severe acne bc of this, thankfully one day I tried moisturizer first out of curiosity and wow I woke up the next day with instant results bc the retinol was actually working!

Awesome tip! Retinol blistered my face, when given by my derm. He didnt explain anything about how, to use it. Ive tried small amounts over my mother lotions and I was applying as soon as I get out of a HOT shower. Thank you for explaining this. I can use retinols, now!

I've been using tretinoin/Retin A, Renova, etc. for so long I could bathe in it. I can put it on my eyelids, in fact everywhere. I'm so old, started using it when it first came out many years ago. I did have to be careful at first, but after my skin adjusted, it's been all good. I have to say, it has really done it's job.

Thank you. So glad you cleared that up. Thank goodness I have been doing it correctly. No problems yet. 🤞 I had a bad exsperience with Retinol years ago and am really afraid of it now. I have sensitive skin and really appreciate your expertise.

Thank you for actually explaining things further and not just using a blanket rule for products. I find this so much more helpful!

I absolutely love how through and detail oriented Dr. Shereen is . I never thought there is a difference between damp and slightly wet face . Wow

That is a great great great information. Kindly let me know what serums can be applied after the retinol and before moisturizer.

i apply it after my serums and moisturizer, then do a barrier repair after that. im new to retinol have always shied away due to sensitive skin. but i just turned 30 and feel like it's time im using a .5 and have had 0 irritation. i do find my skin to be drier, but feel like that's common.

I have dry skin and there’s no way I’m washing my face at night. I don’t even wash my face every day. In fact there was a couple years when I only used Abilene liquefying cleanser and never wash my face at all.
You’re so certain that your irritating ways are fine for every face is a big surprise to me.
You’re really nice, you make good videos, and irritation I’m talking about is the thought of my skin. Washing my face dries out so I do it about every five days when I take a shower.
And for a dry skin person, I have to wash my ears four times before I get the oil off. Luckily, unlike my mother my ears don’t accumulate anything inside. I’ve never had earwax.

I wait quite a while because i use tret and I’m very sensitive. If I don’t leave it long enough, even after a few years of use, I will peel. I think half an hour is a good rule of thumb

I applied my tretinoin about 30-60 minutes after moisturizer. It really helped prevent irritation and over exfoliation on my sensitive skin.

I’m so glad to hear I’ve been doing the right thing as someone with sensitive skin. I’m 35 and only just started using stuff that has retinol I always apply it last and only 2-3 times per week.

Tip- I use .05 Retin A on my face and Adapalene on my hands followed by Eucerin Advanced Repair Hand Cream every night (and living where I do, I ALWAYS have SPF on my hands)✨👌🏼
