Who was dumb enough to say there were no phones in the 1950's?? They need to sue their school district and their parents. Every adult in their life failed them lol.

I love my vintage and antique furniture. I stopped buying modern mass production furniture after a shelf from ikea collapsed because the particle board couldn't handle the southern humidity when we didn't have air for a month. I was scared that would happen around one of my kids and hurt them. That got me buying vintage clothes because of the quality. The house we bought as our forever home is 118 years old.

Why don't we still have hide away function stuff. I love them. 💖

That era had, imo, the best furniture and appliances. Everything was unique but sturdy and could work forever. It's not the same anymore with modern furniture and appliances. I'd say it's even worse nowadays

Man if we didn’t have telephones, what the heck was I talking on for hours in the 50s?! 😂

My favorite feature of my 1960s house is the cast iron tub. I can take a bath for an hour plus and the water still be steaming.

Though it is a bit scary people didn’t realize that phones have been around since the late 1800’s. Isn’t that like 3rd grade history?

Someone needs to tell the kids about when whole floors of apartment buildings would share one telephone and it would ring differently depending on who the call was for. And sometimes the operator would listen in. Or, later on, your parents would listen in from another phone to see what you were saying lol

"Didn't have phones back then, " bless. 💜

Even your whole house is antique?!?! That. Is some major dedication to the era

Every middle class family in the 1970’s had that great cabinet for records. We had the sewing table too.

Don't forget the giant rotary wall phone in the kitchen. My aunts house had one until about 15 years ago. And phone tables were a thing (basically a little side table specifically for the phone which usually included a spot to jot down notes/store paper and pen)

I still have my grandmother's end table/sewing machine combo. It's a gorgeous old piece of MCM that needs a liiiitle retouching on its top because my mom let it get water damaged, and I eventually need to see if the sewing machine works or can be repaired, but I'm just thankful to have it for the sentimental meaning, since I never got to meet my grandmother.
