I have my IMAX tickets all set and ready to go for opening day this Friday here in Boston. As an MIT grad, I'm all in on this movie especially for the chemistry and physics as your friend mentioned. I am reading the 800 page *Making of the Atomic Bomb* so I'm fully prepared. Can't wait and thank you for your honest, if somewhat tempered, review!

Really enjoyed the review, although if I may add: the reason we didnt hear sound when the bomb went off was because we were supposed to be witnessing it from Oppenheimer and the scientists’ eyes who at the time were observing the blast from about 6 miles away. Sound travels at 767 miles per hour so it would’ve taken the sound waves around half a minute to reach Oppenheimer, whereas light travels that distance almost instantly (about 30 microseconds) hence we saw the blast 30 secs ahead of the sound.

Love the reaction. But I can't help myself but ask. You said that you were surprised it is a drama and not action sequences with explosions.

Why did you not expect drama? This is biopic about Oppenheimer. So it is pretty much expected to be a drama.

The angle of, race against time, was a real thing, in that the Allies had no way knowing how successful or not the German nuclear research program really was. Which was a failure as it turned out. What I really want to see is how the movie deals with the use of the bomb against the Japanese.

"Sillian Murphy" and "Emily Hump", how did they let you see it early? The C in Cillian is pronounced as a K. Emily is still named "Blunt" as her surname afaik. And Nolan already said it's not a "biopic", as they based it on the book "American Prometheus" and had slight changes to make.

Oppenheimer action film, that would be great, punching Nazis and ending with a fight to the death with Teller.

Fun fact about the period of time. I recently saw a YouTube video that said that the entire "Project" was multiple sites spread out all over the US, but more interestingly, that MULTIPLE other bombs were ready for construction and deployment apart from the ones used in Hiroshima and Nagasaki (which makes you wonder whatever happened to those ones). On top of that, that the target sites as those named before was chosen BECAUSE of their population centers (by military decision makers knowing full well what its destructive potential/capability was), not despite it. I never knew those parts of the Project's history.

With the new Godzilla coming out it would be cool to make a mashup trailer of this and the original Godzilla since it was an allegory for the destruction of the atomic bomb

It’s great that you enjoyed the and I am interested but I would like ask about its rating. I can watch R rated films when it’s either violence or language but I stop things like full on nudity and explicit Drug use. Because I couldn’t find enough info, I want to ask: how hard of a R rating is this movie?
