For a film that mostly features people arguing or debating in meeting rooms, it is an astonishingly gripping watch. I have rarely watched a 3 hour movie that had me riveted throughout and would not have believed it possible if I had known that at least 2 of the 3 hours featured people debating in court or in meeting rooms. It’s an astonishing film, but that’s what we’ve come to expect from Nolan.

I feel the seriousness of the subject matter in Oppenheimer is far greater than any fame that could bestowed on a actor/actress, furthermore I come from the Duck 'n Cover generation that had to grow up in a hurry and accept what we as children were being told to do a without explanation. While I have no knowledge of what today's children feel while going though school lock downs and shooter drills, I remember being told to get under the desk and cover your ears and that this was a drill, or being in a major city and seeing signs marked "CD" or "Shelter" with arrows directing you below street level.

I understand Murphy didn't particularly enjoy the stunt cigarettes he had to smoke during filming. But that was old Bob Oppenheimer. Loved his non-filter Chesterfields (filtered Chesterfields were marketed as L&M.) Also put gin in his coffee. Me, I think whiskey, rum, cognac pair so much better with coffee. But the man was a genius so what do I know.

What's probably best about this movie and Barbie exploding ticket sales is the possibility that every freaking release being a super hero movie may finally stop. I get that the general film audience is brain dead but the inability to do anything but Avengers part 42 is killing the industry.
