The engineers want a gun barrel to be tough and fairly hard, to take the stress of firing a shell, but not so hard that it is brittle and will shatter when impacted, or stressed. thus the fair amount of bending before it broke.

I am just amazed that the thin square tubing compressed into a symmetrical compression shape. Then the round tubing which is way thicker did the same thing. Nice work fells.

It looks like raw material of tank gun, If use real tank gun It means finished material for pressing with 500 metric tons It is so hard even when put in horizontal, because The gun is made of alloy steel and It has completed thermal treatment, Not so easy for pressing real gun!

Excellent video, a single observation from me. If the barrel is 115mm then it is not from a T64 (as shown in the photo) but from a T62

T-62 have the 115mm howitzer that you “believe you may have here” and the t-64 you showed for the reference tank has 125mm bore
