P channel enhancement MOSFET as a switch

Показать описание
P-channel enhancement-mode MOSFETs should be used in some situations where the load is linked directly to ground. As with PNP transistors, the MOSFET switch in this case is connected between the load and the positive supply rail (high-side switching).
In a P-channel device the conventional flow of drain current is in the negative direction so a negative gate-source voltage is applied to switch the transistor "ON".
The P-channel MOSFET is "upside down," with its source terminal connected to the positive supply +VDD, enabling this. The MOSFET therefore turns "ON" when the switch is in the LOW position and "OFF" when the switch is in the HIGH position.
