Some extra facts since the name 'MOSFET' was a mouthful to explain in the vid:
It stands for Metal-Oxide Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistor.
the field effect part is about it’s electric field nature, which controls conductivity without direct contact for faster switching speeds and higher efficiency! This sets it apart from BJTs, which use current flow between terminals for operation 👍

For anyone new to MOSFETS, it is not necessarily necessary put a daggum flame from a blowtorch to that poor transistor prior to use!

Most MOSFETs have a huge gate capacitance, practically they are slower than BJTs, especially in small signal applications.

I have to add something:
The source is also shorted to the p-type semiconductor!
There are MOSFETs with 4 connections, called: Source, Drain, Gate and BULK!
The Bulk is the connection to the p-type semiconductor. The MOSFET is symmetrical so there’s no dotation difference/ build element difference between the Source and the Drain. The only difference is that Source is connected with Bulk! And that’s why you can only use it in one way! Hope people can learn something from this…😊

Adding the flyback diode to the motor is important, since electric motor will generate inductive spike, which could potentially cause the MOSFET to fail.

Tip: the p-type and the gate contact are separated by an oxide (usually silicon dioxide or hafnium dioxide) and not metal oxide
