Ex-KGB spy Jack Barsky joined "Banfield" to discuss Putin's rise to power in Russia.

"It was a slow, very methodical process in the direction of what he is doing now. He is convinced that some higher power has selected him to restore the greatness of Russia, that actually never was, only in his mind," Barsky said.

There is a video up on YT of a lecture by a former Finnish intelligence officer that makes the same point as this guy: the Russians believe they are anointed to revive the Russian empire.

This is why there needs to be an age limit for all countries leaders. Retire at age 65. They all are senile after a certain age and want to revisit their damn youth.

How he got there isn't important, how to take him out is relevant.

Actually I don't care how he came to power, I would apreciate to know how he came to being caught arrested and sentenced in Den Haag. Alternately I would also apreciate his decease.

Yes, the mystical duty, the new or the never before "messiah" of Russia. That's how Putin sees him self.

I think what Putin is thinking is worth more than $64 000!!!
Rather probably a billion dollar question, if not more !!! 🙃🤣😵

Excuse my lack of surprise, but there are reports he's already using white phosphorus in manners outside what is allowed.

Mr. Putin wishes to make Peter the Great look average.

Vladolf Putin was an office bureaucrat, not an agent.
The Kyivan Rus was not absolutist, but I agree it'd be better if Moscow recognised Kyiv as the legitimate government of all Russia.

He expresses a Russian point of view on Rus history, adding even Poland and Kazakhstan to Rus ethnic people, typical of all Russians who have no limits to their imperialistic expansion. Poland or Kazakhstan were never Rus, this is offensive if you say it. Rus were Southern Slavs, Poland were Western Slavs, and Slovenians the Southern, Kazakhstan are completely different as ethnically from Asia, and the Grand Duchy of Moscow were Vikings and Mongols, and vassals to the Golden Horde in 13-14 century. They later invaded the neighbouring Rus states using Mongolian superior war tactics, terror and slavery, and expended south and west in Europe, and east to Asia. In 1721, Peter the Great wanted to be part of Europe, and to legitimise his claim to the lineage from the ancient Kievan Rus, he renamed the Grand Duchy of Moscow to the Empire of Russia and its people to Russians, he stole the ancestral lineage of Kievan Rus. Only Ukrainians are Southern Slavs and have a right to continue their lineage from Kievan Rus. What is called Russia, has no right to be called with this name, they are not ethnically Slavs or Europeans, they are wild steppe horsemen from Asia who invaded Europe and unfortunately remained.

I wonder how many of these KGBs have had to utilise their combat and survival skills. I wonder if they get through these assignments unscathed.

The KGB does not groom one for presidential aspirations. No, I agree. Higher power? No, he is living in the wrong time. He would be in his glory if it were 1945.

He worked his way with cunning actions like playing chess, and removing his opponents in every way possible, be it by blackmail or murders, that he has acted on but unfortunately he will be removed by others that are affected by the invasion of Ukraine, and the murders that are committed under his Name,
