What really happened on the fateful night with the Titanic? No other civilian maritime disaster has stayed in our memory as much as the sinking of the gigantic luxury liner – but how much does our current view actually align with historical reality? There are people who are firmly convinced that the catastrophe unfolded entirely differently from how it is depicted in the countless documentaries and James Cameron's blockbuster movie. According to them, the sinking of the Titanic was by no means a tragic accident – but a cold-blooded conspiracy that leaves us completely dumbfounded! A quite interesting story I've heard about Ismay is that around the time "A Night to Remember" was released in November 1955 Walter Lord got a letter from someone in England about the remarkable finish at the 1913 Derby in Epsom Downs. Craganour, the favourite, crossed the line first and was escorted to the winners' circle. Then, without a protest from anyone, it was placed second to Aboyeur. Craganour, Lord's correspondent said, was owned by Bruce Ismay, and I guess it doesn't really need saying that the horse racing establishment would never let his horse win the hallowed Derby after what happened. Walter Lord then went to check the story. Everything turned out to be accurate except for one important detail. Joseph Bruce Ismay didn't own Craganour. His brother, Charles Bower Ismay, did. Still, Craganour remained placed second to Aboyeur. The reason? Craganour's original jockey had been replaced by an American one, Johnny Reiff. I don't know why that was but the move was regarded as immensely unpopular, and at the end of the race during discussions the judges had a golden opportunity to discredit Reiff. Walter Lord, though, said that he still got letters afterwards still linking Bruce Ismay and Craganour together

Ismay seems to be a debated topic, and from what I've heard everything said about him here is wrong. He didn't push his way to the front, he rather boarded one of the very last lifeboats, and at that only when no more women and children was in his area (as per the Women & Children FIRST command Captain Smith gave. Some officers followed that command and allowed men when no more women & children were in the area. Whereas other officers played by Women & Child ONLY rules) The movies like to paint Ismay as cowardly boarding a lifeboat, even taking a spot a women could of filled or jumping in a boat just as it started being lowered. But historians seem to debate this notion as being entirely untrue.

It's said Ismay may have even helped in evacuating as many people as he could. Talking to frightened passengers to convince them to get onto boats and urging officers to fill boats faster.

When it comes to Ismay it sounds like the papers and movies just needed a villain, a scapegoat to pin the blame on. And unfortunately for him Ismay was the easy target.

Very Interesting for sure, But you know there are a lot of things i don't Believe are true. I have always been
Fascinated by The Titanic, And the story surrounding it, But so much doesn't add up My friend. I think the
Two ships were Swapped, Deffo Wasn't the Titanic that sank, And i don't think It hit an Iceberg ether, The
story that a sub sank it, Mabey, Don't know to be honest, Now sank for the Insurance is likely, Like you said
the Titanic did take all that Damage, They had to get there money back somehow. And what better way to
do it, I mean it was classed as Unsinkable right. make it go as fast as possible, Unsinkable, HA, We will see
about that, Lets put it to the teat shall we. How come though every time there is a Documentary They always
refer to the 1997 James Cameron Film, There are Quite a few films that are just as good at telling the story
if not even better, just because it made the most money at the box office, what about the great Night to
remember a cracking film, I have them all on DVD, And night to remember is by far my favorite version.
Anyway i liked your video very much. Oh Yeh! then there is the film Raise the Titanic also, What do you think
Pall, Is there any truth in that, They Raised the ship. And Because there was to Much Evidence aboard the
ship They Blackmailed them to sink it again or else. That could also be true couldn't it. Well we will never know.
