A team of technicians and scientist undertake a thorough site survey of the Titanic shipwreck area to examine how the passenger ship sank.

The Titanic was a British passenger liner that sank in the North Atlantic Ocean on April 15, 1912, after colliding with an iceberg during her maiden voyage from Southampton, England to New Your City. There were 1,514 people that drowned in one of the deadliest peacetime maritime disasters in history. "The Unsinkable Titanic" sunk and today the story lives on in fans of those who love this great ship and it's history.

I have Titanic, Olympic, Queen Mary, Ocean Liner, and other interesting Historical documentaries. It is a passion of mine to share the amazing Titanic story for the generations to come. Thank you watching my films and please Subscribe, Like, and Comment. Blessings, Mark.

1:18:07 there was a survivor who said that the break up was the moment when people screamed the loudest, because it was terrifying, and this animation catches it perfectly, every time I here them scream in this specific part of the animation, it always sends a chill down my spine 😖😭

The best documentary I've ever seen on Titanic!

I think one of the greatest testaments to the quality engineering of the Titanic is the fact that the ship never capsized! not on the surface of the water not under the water not while falling through the water never. This is so unusual look at every other shipwreck

Can I just say I can’t even imagine the fear of that night she sank.

Absolutely incredible. I didn't know about the middle section at all. The debris field mapping was super interesting. Amazing work by these people..

You had witnesses that said the ship broke in two! Why did no one believe them? This was a fantastic video! Every titanic video or documentary I watch, I always end up crying at the end.

It is really amazing to see this technology at work to put the puzzle of the broken ship back together. The research teams have spent way more than it cost to build the Titanic. I personally am grateful for the artifacts that have been retrieved from the great ship...so interesting to have these clues into the lives of the passengers. Amazing what may be learned by these tenacious explorers, from this wreck on the bottom of the ocean.

I've been to the exhibition in Belfast and there is a replica plate of 1 inch thick steel on display. the mind boggles as to the forces that must have involved to pull those plates apart. An unstoppable object hitting an immovable object comes to mind.

Materials act differently when a force is applied abruptly. The test they performed does not seem to mimic the collision or the conditions. Unless they cooled these rivets down to below freezing, a warm rivet with a pressure applied slowly Acts much different than a cold rivet when a pressure is applied abruptly.

1:22:08 The "Titanic broke because she was subjected to stresses that no structure could withstand." No one at the time could imagine anything worse than ice breaching two compartments at the most (or maybe some chose to erase the thought on their minds that something worse than that could actually happen).

Not only they do the test at room temperature but the force applied is on tension only, when the hull plates are bend inward in a real collision you will have force in shear too. One thing is sure, riveting was the best method of assembly with the steel of the time.

Thanks for the post. Seems like even documentaries arent safe from the copyright junk these days. Getting harder and harder to watch documentaries from even 10-15 years ago now much less older than those.

I saw a great documentary that I believe was made after this one. Docs were found showing that the builders bought lower quality rivets than normal. Then some of the actual rivets from Titanic had been brought up and studied by a metallurgist. She said that there was more slag/anomalies in the iron of these rivets than would usually be the case and that leads to the iron breaking more easily.

Amazing. Thank you. I learned so much newer information that replaced the old assumptions and conjecture.
