The "close relationship" of judges, prosecuting attorney's and law enforcement is the exact recipe for a failed judicial system.

Sheriff and judge’s “close” relationships are what leads to a bias. This guy says it like it’s a good thing. Our justice system is irreparably broken.

I went to school with Mickey the Sheriff and speak to him regularly when I see him out in public, I can say this. He is not an angry man or quick to anger, a very calm and level person. The only thing I could ever seeing him lose his cool over is his children. He was super poor like everybody else growing up, he always took up for the other kids who were not able to defend themselves from bullies and no one really ever had a bad thing to say about Mickey. I don't think any jury in eastern Ky will convict Sheriff Stines. I've heard dozens of people around town is saying numerous things but they all point back to the same issue. But there is a camera in those chambers so a freedom of information order should let the public know exactly what occurred. I don't want to speculate but I think I can sympathize on why this might have happened. I've heard all the rumors but I don't want to say anything until its out in the open. Lets just hope they release the video quickly and it didn't disappear or wasn't recording or mysteriously vanish.

Sounds like more to the story than being told. Maybe some inappropriate dealings with a child???? Time will tell

Omg, this judge looks young. I saw that too about the daughter. If it is true though, she has lost her dad forever now. She may blame herself too.

The rumor is that the judge messed with the sheriff's daughter. But that's just rumor. The FACT is that, just before the shooting, they switched and looked at each other's phone. Whatever was on the judge's phone is the reason for the shooting.

Judge didn't realize he was dealing with a T 1000 Terminator.

Seems like a sheriff would know the consequences of his actions

I have authority gone awry all the way around. No sense of morality, decency.

"Where was the bailiff?" Really??? The bailiff most likely worked for the sheriff, and even if he did not the bailiff would have no reason to question the sheriff speaking privately to the judge in chambers. Why would any bailiff question it? Come on, the judge's bailiff did absolutely nothing wrong here.
