The English translation being displayed is not the lyrics of the Tamaki Koji song, but the lyrics of the Chinese version which he initially sang on the 2017 The Singer show.
What Dimash is conveying is the Japanese nuance and feeling of the original composition, not the Chinese translation. I am fluent in Japanese, and his mastery of Japanese nuance is superb. ALL my Japanese friends are blown away by his performance.

From what I have read over the years, the Tokyo Jazz Festival requires a live performance and sent their own film crew to film the entries in no more than 2 takes. This was during Covid so the performances could not be live in Tokyo. So he was definitely not lip syncing during this song. He is just that good! Thank you for noticing and appreciating Dimash‘s ability to choose so many aspects of sound to convey the lyrics and evoke the emotion of the song. I think that some people misunderstand some of the notes he sings as Dimash showing off. However, if you have watched some of his interviews and documentaries them you would understand his desire to be true to the song. Additionally, if you, as a singer, had Dimash‘s mastery and range, could you really choose not to use it when you feel certain notes convey the emotion or bring the audience to a certain place? Dimash has worked incredibly hard and continues to learn — it‘s what he enjoys!
