I don’t know if anyone noticed.

But the last episode was a tribute to symbolizing his character growth development

Observe when he begins his plunder mission, you can tell he was like his old self. Like in the begining of the season. Less serious, funny, careless
as he kept plundering half way, we see him going crazy with power, like he went after ayumis death . He lost control and let the power consume him

Later as he got through it, he made a resolve to get himself back, you see him become selfless like he did when Noa saved him from depression. His character changed cuz he fell in love, similarly the notebook symbolized why he reverted back to normal despite going crazy

And In the end, he doesn’t mind dying for love because it saved him from suffering.

His character changed, that’s why in the end he doesn’t use the power to control for his benefit. That’s why he doesn’t attack the guy. He wants to do it to protect Nao and to honour her effort in changing him to a good person.


That’s why she fell for him.


Tomori eats her own words she told yuu in the beginning of the season

“One day you will meet the one who will give everything for you”

Tomori is now head over heels as she is the person who someone gave up everything for..

This anime is so underrated, the OP is a masterpiece and Tomori and Ayumi are so cute

Don't worry guys, rejoice. The manga released after the anime, and it had continuation after the last episode of the anime. In the Manga epilogue, Nao and Yuu, was sitting together, Nao offered Yuu the music player he gave her back before he set off on his journey. Nao said, the music player have their favorite song in it (song from Zhiend band), then they listened together... as he was listening the song with Nao, He remembered everything, he said "Tomori, you really liked Zhiend don't you?" then Nao briefly shocked, but then she replied "Yeah I do, but Yuu-kun it's not 'Tomori anymore right? As a lover I think we should both call each other by our first name"

End.

So yeah, pretty much a perfect happy ending. The Zhiend song has been implied multiple times to have memory recovering ability, even when it's from the different timeline. Which also mean this Nao also remembered the time where she saved Yuu from depression, and went to Zhiend concert together.

I actually surprised no one talked about the Manga ending.
