Automatically Import Data From Google Sheets to Excel | Link Google Sheets to Excel in Real Time

In this Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel video tutorial I explain how to connect or link Excel to Google Sheets, so that Excel automatically imports data. This can be done with one or more sheets in your Google Sheets document. You can update the Excel import with any changes in Google Sheets periodically and/or whenever you open the Excel workbook.

Table of Contents:

00:00 - Introduction
00:14 - Create the 'share' URL in Google Sheets
01:26 - Import into Excel Using Power Query
03:08 - Refresh the import periodically or whenever the workbook is opened
04:45 - Make changes to the import query where necessary

Hi Chester, awesome video. Will this work for data coming from a google form? If link the spreadsheet where the form data is collected, will it update every time someone completes the form?

Good Afternoon Chester, Great video, and I would like to try to use this. I am using a MacBook Air M2 and MS365. The Excel version is 16.81. When I go to Data, there is no selection from the Web. I could send you a screen shot or recording, but all I see is the following under Choose Data Source: EXCEL WORKBOOK, TEXT/CSV, XML, JSON, SHAREPOINT ONLINE LIST, ODATA, BLANK TABLE, BLANK QUERY. Please let me know how to proceed.

Hi Chester, great video, very helpful. Is there a way to do the same but import data from Excel to Google Sheets and link them?

Hi Chester, thank you for a great video as always. So useful and helpful! Please can you help me figure out how to sort date in order in excel pivot table classic mode. Currently I cannot sort the date in order. My pivot table is in classic view mode and my datasets are in the Row field. I have formatted the date using datevalue formula in the original data and it’s pulling through the pivot table fine but no matter what I try or do, it’s just not sorting the date in order. My dates are between 2021 to 2023 but they are currently not in order. Do you have any idea how I can sorts them in order without manually sorting them? Thanks in advance

Why, in the ultimate excel file, I see the note: External data connections have been disabled. And how to solve it? Seems like no UPDATES are done.
