What do you think will happen when you wrap a radio in aluminum foil? It goes quiet! But why?? Not because the sound is muffled, but because the foil blocks the electromagnetic field causing the radio to no longer receive a signal! This effect is called Faraday Shield (or Faraday Cage)! This effect is why it may be wise to stay inside of your car during a thunderstorm since your car can act as a Faraday Shield and block the lightning from entirely striking you!
