A MONOTONE voice comes from a MONOTONE body. If you truly want to unlock more melody in your voice, then start by being more expressive by using more body language when you speak!

It breaks my heart to see myself sound monotonic. I am fighting to talk with good intonation

I'm monotone with my voice. Because I'm always bored with talking to people on superficial level. Also I don't express myself to strangers so easily.

People say I sound "monotone" but they like it. When I actually ask them explain how I sound to them, they tell me I sound "serene" "calm" "collected" and "I know my shit" and just overall they like listening to me, so I find confusing on whether my monotone is a good or bad thing. I don't think I am thou

When people watch other people gesticulate (wave hands when talking) they excite the inferior frontal and posterior temporal regions of the brain. Brocas area and wernickes areas reside in these regions, respectively.

By observing people with strokes in these regions, we can deduce their roles. Brocas area allows for fluidity of speech - - people with damage here stammer. Wernickes area allows a person to speak with actual meaning. Damage here leads to very fluent but entirely meaningless talk (e.g. Torque the kitchen fridge to 10 radians).

Thus, watching people gesticulate excites two brain regions associated with language understanding AND production (keep in mind that researchers showed people talking without sound, so just hands) .

I hypothesize that the neurons exciting upon seeing gesticulation are mirror neurons: that is, they excite both when seeing someone do something or when doing something.

Thus, by you yourself gesticulating, you are enhancing the functioning of your brain regions in charge of the fluency and meaning of your speech.

Thanks a lot sir .
Ooh my goodness that I am watching this video . sir you are telling that your body is connected your voice and your voice is connected your body. For me this line is heart touching . 😊😊😊❤

I have it about myself .. I can the point where I lose someone's attention everytime I try to talk or rush a sentence ... I've even seen in myself finding it hard to keep attention with someone who's monotone so I know it's not there fault.. I would love to change this..

Vinh you're truly amazing, I just realized the difference between using body language and not using it.

Great point. If you're not the guy that jumps up smiling and hugs someone to greet them, then you probably won't speak like that guy.
