I watched so many of the seasons! Loved every minute! The fearsome time bandit was one of my favorites along with the Hanson’s and Harrises. My Lord, she had me screaming every time she mispronounced OPILIO. She stated many falsehoods about the crab fishing industry and the Hillstrand family. out of respect for their privacy I will not get into them on this forum. So where was the 'untold truth about Andy'?
I fished out of Homer in the 70's when John (the boys dad) had the boat Invader and then the Sea Wife. I can verify that there was the right way, the wrong way and the Hillstrand way to do things - but he always did well. Knew the boys passingly in the 80's. Last I saw Andy was in '08 at his Indiana ranch, turned out we had both married gals from Indiana, pretty sure they have moved on from there. According to the State of Alaska the Time Bandit is still owned by the family and is currently registered for pot fishing and tendering. Yes, the boat was up for sale and I do not know its current status.
The red crabber she claims as being the Time bandit is not. The starboard rail, the stern, the bulbous bow, the wheelhouse and the house itself are all wrong and if you chase down the Dock Street Brokers ad this red boat was built in 1979 by Phares Boat, it has old style yellow CAT engines. And spoiler alert, it is the Seabrooke.
As all you fans of the boat know, the boys installed specially painted red Cummins engines a few years ago (the boat has always been powered by Cummins) and the boat was built by Giddings Boatworks.

I would love to see that boat back on the TV show and I got to meet them when they were in Astoria Oregon. They are very friendly and i got to look around there boat. This boat brings back memories of Dale Earnhardt Sr and black number three.
