I’m officially getting my Certification in Dog Training & Behaviour! 🥳🎉

Over the past seven months, I’ve been working toward my nationally recognised certification in Dog Behaviour and Training. Throughout this process, I’ve had the privilege of connecting with and learning from industry professionals across various training specialities. From practicing running group classes, shadowing trainers, working hands-on with a variety of dogs, attending lectures, and dabbling in different dog sports, I’ve immersed myself in every opportunity to try and soak up as much knowledge as I can!

By no means does this make me a professional dog trainer. Experience working with a ton of dogs, plus ongoing education in dog behaviour and psychology are INCREDIBLY important for someone to call themselves a trainer, but these are both things I’m excited to build as I continue on this path 💪

At the heart of every dog trainer’s mission is the goal of helping humans and their dogs live better lives together.

For me, and with this platform, I want to provide practical, digestible information that goes beyond the basics of pet ownership. I want to increase the average dog owner’s understanding of dog behaviour. Knowledge is power, and when people have access to GOOD, reliable information, they’re better equipped to make informed decisions for themselves and their dogs — both present and future 🐶

My goal is to learn as much as I can and bring you guys SO much more value as I become more knowledgeable as a dog trainer and handler. I know that not everyone is interested in having more than just a pet dog, but if I can make knowledge more accessible and owners can choose how much they want to take on - then that’s a win!

To Winnie, thank you for being the quirky, spicy, failed working dog we all love. Thank you for leading me down this path and helping me find my passion. I hope that together, we can help change the lives of so many people and their dogs 🤍

My grandma's 90th birthday got my entire family to travel from across the USA to come celebrate at her home. This entire house was full of dozens of family members, all because of this one woman. She had a family, which went on to make more families, and here they were celebrating the woman who made it all possible. When she died nobody cared about what job she had. Her career accomplishments. Smashing any Glass ceiling. Nobody gave a shit if she was a lawyer or a college graduate or how much she tried behaving like a man.
The only thing we remember about her are the only important things, the memories we had of her as a mother, as a grandmother.

Omg girl great job!! I had no idea! I feel in love with dog behavior as well, it is just so important to understand in general but especially with reactive dogs. I wish you a path of never ending learning and happiness❤

would love to hear more about how you dealt with her reactivity! got the same issue with my cattle cross :( we got a trainer and Ive learnt how to train her she is getting better but I've been told she may never be able to be around other dogs or people which is upsetting to me.

Congratulations on finding your dream "job" and working to get there! (I say "job" because if you really enjoy something it doesn't feel like a job)

I understand if you dont want to do this but I live with a pretty reactive dog and have been trying to work with him. Im just wondering if you could share the ways youd work with a reactive dog or some links you like. My dog is the sweetest thing inside but once outside he is on high alert of anything and everything.
