I've recently started learning BJJ in MMA classes. I can certainly say that BJJ isn't just a great martial art, but it's also really damn fun. Definitely learn if you haven't yet.

If I didn't know what "Gracie" signified in the martial arts world, I'd have probably thought it was just another self defense program.

Very good explanation about why it's important to know how to handle yourself. There is an underlying threat of physical confrontation when engaging with men. Some individuals are prone to snap and lash out. I would like to keep my cool, de-escalate but at the same time be able to advocate/stand up for myself. Jiu Jitsu seems to help with self-confidence.
