I love your advice to wear what you think is comfortable. the whole suit, That's cool, no gloves, thats cool too. I wish more people could have that outlook on EVERYONE and EVERYTHING and let other people be cool with doing the thing they're doing.

Some of my advice to new beekeepers. Is if I had to start all over again. I would go with all 10 frame medium equipment. For a number of reasons. As far as apiary placement. I like my hives facing to the southeast. With morning sun and afternoon shade. If they are in direct sun and the temperature gets to 105 farenheit and above. They probably will abscond. I also have my hives spaced 3 feet apart to prevent drifting. and on individual stands. Last but not least good luck with your new adventure

I’m still working on catching my first wild swarm.
Living in a northern climate, overwintering is my biggest focus on providing a new home for them, so I’ve chosen to build a horizontal insulated deep frame Layens hive, allowing me to transfer from trap to hive by simply swapping frames.

My first year... only bought one package and should have gotten two so I would have noticed earlier that I had a low laying queen. Also could have joined/split if I had the second.
