My hives all look good so far. Population is better than I expected. I did have a little more moisture in 1 than I would like, but my candy boards kept it from raining condensation on the cluster. I think I'm going to make it through my first winter without any dead colonies.

I've been feeding our hive Hive Alive fondant. They ate one and are half way through the second one.. Today was 60 degrees. I put
a third fondant on. Tomorrow is super to be in the 20's and snow.
So far the bees look good.

I've learned alot thru you, Kaymon R, and Bob B this past year, To God be the glory for me finding yall. I prayed for Gods help and He showed Himself faithful. I've now become a bee keeper instead of a bee haver. I had those same problems for years until I realized I wasn't treating them right. Thank you for the time you invest in helping us take care of the bees.

I've been watching your videos for some time now, and I put a candy board with some pollen in it on my hives . You're right this goes against everything I've been told on how to raise bees in Vermont. So far I have 100% of my bees survived. This is the 1st time I've had this success. I thank you for your insight, it has help me immensely.

"All you have to do is think about things."

I wish more people would understand this. Put just a little thought into something and you'll usually find your answer.

Thank you for this video. I think feeding bees through winter as much as possible is important. I am not keeping bees for profit alone. I love the honey for my own use and to share with a small family and a few friends.

Great Channel love the content, I do wonder how you would recommend feeding a hive in Canadian where alot the winter stay below 0°C. Hate to pop the top and disturb the cluster. Not sure how it can be done. I do use a quilt box to collect the moisture.

🎉 could you make a video of opening a hive that you have fed your candy boards to all winter to see your numbers. Thanks for all your videos David! Great Work.

Great video, I learned the term/concept of bees of winter physiology from you. This has helped me question and understand some of the systems/techniques other use based on the results I have obtained with my bees. Thanks for sharing!

First year beekeeper here. It’s been a wild ride, my colonies are weak, the temperatures have been -5 to -30 for the past week and went through December with a 3 week stretch below 0 temperatures. Coldest morning I had this winter was -37 with a windshield of -57. I’ll be surprised if they make it. How would your bees do in my climate you think? Love your videos and keep up the good work

I’ve been following your system with success.😊

There are so many variables that there are many ways to get the bees to overwinter successfully.

I always love the tips you share. Something I’ve heard you say multiple times is how valuable it is to keep a 5 frame nuc for support/resources for a hive. I would love to hear more on how you manage this. I’d be interested to incorporate it for my hives.

I choose to use Lazutin frames because of seeing bees starve with frames of honey above them.

How is that hive doing that you put in the old chicken coop?

David what do you think about the dry sugar and pollen patterns? I had one hive that didn’t do good over the winter and one hive that did tremendously. Could it be that it was just a weak hive and what do you think your winter be kind would do for those bees now and did they lose the queen inside all those bees thanks again Charlie PA.

How long, how many years does it take to get a decent overwintering rate? This is frustrating to me. I can do honey, I can do build up, I can do queens. I can do everything, except my overwintering rate completely sucks.
