I will not say this is a betrayal; I think they failed to save him as crew members they cannot overpower the WG.

no way they actually betrayed him, everything from zunesha and the giant robot doesnt feel like a Judas-but more like a failure. like “im sorry we couldn’t do better”

At this point I'm interested in knowing abt joyboy, void century and every mystery of one piece world more than the secrets of universe and science. Salute to oda sensei for creating such a legendary story 🫡

I think they didn't intentionally betray joyboy, i think they were just absent due to circumstance. Similar to how Luffy's grand fleet never showed up yet😂

I think that majority of joyboys comrades were kept away from him during the attck from imu and other countries and they are apologizing now that they couldn't be with him when he needed them similar to luffy at marineford

My theory is that the Giant Robot and Zunesha was not on Joyboy's side when Joyboy facing the world Government that is why he lost same as Luffy battling in marineford while his crew is not around that cost the life of ace. I think they had same backstory..

My theory is that the ancient kingdom vs the 20 kingdoms follows similar themes to the plot of dressrosa and alabasta. Joy boy was the ruler of the kingdom or at least some important figure and imu used some sort of manipulation tactics to turn everyone against him, toppling the ancient kingdom and instilling himself as the shadow ruler of the new wg. My reasons for this are
1. Oda often builds on previous themes. Dressrosa already builds upon alabasta, almost giving you a look at what would have happened to alabasta had crocodile succeeded like doffy did. These are the only two kingdoms from the original 20 that we’ve learned about so they have a tie to the void century, and oda could build on this theme further by showing us that the whome one piece universe is essentially a global, 800 year version of dressrosa.

2. The end of joyboy’s time was clearly covered in regret. Zunesha comitted some crime and was punished, the iron giant apologizes to joyboy, and joyboy himself apologizes to the people of fish man island. Joyboy and the giant could be sorry that they weren’t strong enough to achieve their goals, but zunesha’s “crime” was likely committed against either joyboy or the ancient kingdom (the wg would kill zunesha, not have them walk the earth for 900 years.) so it seems some type took place, but zunesha is clearly loyal to joyboy in the present day. Similar to Bon clay’s ability in alabasta, and sugar/doffy’s in dressrosa, imu or one of us supporters probably had an ability that allowed them to frame joyboy/the ancient kingdom as evil, inspiring the 20 kingdoms to rise up and cause zunesha to turn on him. Zunesha not realizing their error till it’s too late, and the kingdoms never knowing because they got to go be world nobles, except lily Nefertari who saw through the deception and was killed for it.

(Sorry for the essay, started thinking about this yesterday and still working ideas out.)

Its not multiple people betraying him, it is just one very capable disciple who betrayed him.

The betrayal was that Joyboy is able to create Devil Fruit powers. He was able to make everyone's dreams come true, as Vegapunk said DFs are just manifestations of people's dreams, but it drains him. They imprisoned Joyboy in order to continue using his ability to grant powers.

The Nika-Nika Fruit enables the user to change the world around them. An extension of that power would be to change the people around them. But it also drains him as you can see when he turns shriveled and old.

The reason why Joyboy picked Luffy was because he wants to be the King of the Pirates, he wants Freedom and Luffy is the person that can free him.

They betrayed him by not believing in his dream and left him to fight alone more than likely

The fact is that if everyone betrayed luffy...or wouldnt not.

Man is the definition of loyalty ❤

Joyboy = Luffy
Giant Robot = Franky
Zunesha = Chopper

So there were characters like Zoro (Swordsman), Sanji (Kicker), Jimbei (Fishman) and the rest too

I do agree. I think the reason joyboy failed is because of a betrayal at some point. I also think it's possible that he has to work with the dark dark fruit user in order to achieve the goal. And I think that user in the past like right now is at odds with the Nika fruit user and I think Joy boy was unable to work with his Blackbeard counterpart at the time because of all the s*** that had been done between them. And I wonder if Luffy would be able to work with Blackbeard after everything he has done and possibly will do if it meant defeating the world of government
