I own a maintenance company for marine aquariums, and also breed coral and own a mooray eel, octupus, puffers etc... And to my knowledge that is a CW Cutlass Fish. These specific ones dwell in warm water during the day but more deeper cold waters at night. The fish is actually a lighter silver-blue color, however with that spot beam hitting it the scales appear to look blue or purple. Reason being though is that during the day in more shallow waters the sunlight hit them and the appear more blue, thus camouflaging them in the shallow blue waters. But at night when they dwell in deeper dark waters where there's no sunlight penetrating they look different, thus the reason for the natural silverish color of the scales. That silver color blends in by reflecting the darkness of the water so it can hunt alot easier without being seen. Their slender bodies are also used as a mechanism to camouflage themselves. They swim in a very straight formation with their body(as seen at first in this video) in order to make as little motion in the water as possible. This allows them to glide around and look for food with ease and without detection of prey or predators, and once they find prey they just slowly glide up cutting the water with their knife-like bodies and all of a sudden jolt forward with an "eel-like" motion(also as seen towards end of video) and grab their prey. Hopefully this helps with anyone who was really interested in this video. And sorry for writing such a novel about it lol

It's like a horror movie down there. I would never dive into the vast unknown ocean especially at night.

I love this. I was in the U.S. Navy and I seen some weird stuff out there. Keep it up guys. We need to know a heck of a lot more than we know(very little).

was brought back from the ice moon" Europa" from a secret NASA mission in 1994.  5 miles beneath the ice on that moon is an ocean, several creatures were found and transported back to earth.  After keeping them alive in a laboratory environment, they were tagged and released into the open ocean to be studied

Looks like an Oarfish to me Oarfish are large, greatly elongated, pelagic lampriform fish belonging to the small family Regalecidae.[1] Found in all temperate to tropical oceans yet rarely seen, the oarfish family contains four species in two genera. One of these, the giant oarfish (Regalecus glesne), is the longest bony fish alive, growing to up to 11 m (36 ft) in length.

I think it's a juvenile Oarfish or some type of Nocturnal Eel Species!

It's simply a cutlass fish.  They're very common in that area....all the way up the Atlantic into the Chesapeake.  They're very common....so common that they're sold as bait in many stores.  However....they're not often seen by divers because they often hang out right below the because of their shape they aren't noticed.

its definitely the ribbon fish, i did some research on the fish previously stated and the ribbon fish and the hairtail fish are the only ones that match the appearance fully and the hairtail fish only lives near Australia. i then looked up videos of ribbon fish swimming and its defiantly a mach

Can't be absolutely sure based on the film but with the description given as well helping it sounds & looks a lot like a fish we used to call a Walla Walla, which we used to catch off the coast of South Africa. I believe that some people also call them Ribbon Fish but I'm not completely sure of that. hope this helps. As an extra fact, when caught & cut up, these fish make great bait for other, larger fish, including some Tuna & Shark.

If it is a young oarfish, which I think it is, that's rare my friend.
