I remember hearing from Ben Foster that the opposite corner to the foot is the most comfortable place to bury a penalty. And since most players are right footed, this explains why the bottom left had the highest %.

I love how Tifo's shorts end with the credits and don't just loop. The creative team behind these deserve to be mentioned. 👏

I like when fullbacks just kick it as hard as they can

Would have loved to know the bottom middle and right Tifo

Step 1: roll a dice before the game
Step2: look straight at keeper and shoot where the dice told you to shoot
Step 3: profit?

I’ve always found using my foot to be the best technique

My Professor literally spent 2 hours with us in game theory to figure this out and the answer was easy: Just don‘t have a pattern

I know it's hard to analyse, but what percentage of top half goals went over the bar, cos I doubt 100% of pens aimed top left/right ended up going in.

Ollie Watkins vs Peter Shilton.
Interesting matchup there on the penalty.

down the middle is always the way to go until they adjust, then you can shoot anywhere

I had two tricks that almost always worked. I was at one point (around 27-28) had more saves than goals in from penalties.

It all depended on the player taking the penalty. If he was confident I always pretended to move but was still. Usually that was either a impossible shot to stop on one of the sides, a panenka attemt or middle high in the goal. I saved probably 20-30% of those.

If he looked a bit nervous he will usually always target one of the sides. I pretended to move to my right, right before he shot. Nervous people usually saw a bit up on me a half second before the shot and then down on the ball to focus. I timed it usually correctly and dived with full commitment to the left. Most penalty takers were right footed and they usually picked the right side, (left for me). Most of the balls shot was loose and 90% or more went to that side. If it was a bit too close to the post I would not reach it, but if it was anything in between (as it usually was, I could save it)

Though I had different tactics on penalty shootouts.

I've noticed while goalkeeping is always look at the kickers feet position because you will know which direction they will aim them in. Problem is you have to get there fast enough because you stared at the ball too long

That's why on fifa i always go down the middle the first time. Not only are keepers typically diving left or right, but if it works the player starts to wonder if i even know how to aim a pk, usually resulting in them staying center when i then go bottom right.

MacAllister makes up all of the top corner goals 💪

Well I remember watching Match of the Day in 2016 in December and arsenal played Burnley at home Sanchez scored a last minute pen to win it going down the middle and at the end of a game Danny Murphy said after the game that from a PK kick keepers want to be the hero and are more likely to dive so that success rate doesn’t shock me.

Goalkeeper: Prime Buffon

Situation : World Cup Final

Julian Dicks said (in the Peter Crouch podcast, I think) that he'd just hit the ball as hard as he could. If he didn't know where the ball was going, there is no way the goalkeeper could.

This just makes Harry Maguires penalty for England even more special, he pelted it top right corner and he rarely even takes penalties cause he’s a defender

Alan Shearer and Harry Maguire are best, chose corner and send bullet, simple.
