my wife surprised me with an early Christmas present. due to shortages around the holidays she said I could have my gift really early (amazing wife). She initially wanted to purchase me a PS5 Pro ( I still only have my Destiny The Taken King Special Edition Ps4) so a ps5 pro would have been a massive upgrade for me.

I opted out of it and got a OLED Switch instead. I like the mobility factor of a handheld, especially a Switch because it houses common games I like to play in a very relaxed state (in my bed or on the couch).

Every since I fell in love with Monster Hunter 3U on the Wii U, I have faithfully followed that IP through MH:World and Rise/Sunbreak.

Monster Hunter IMHO is an amazing game for handhelds. It has tons of depth and gameplay is great if you're into punishing games similar to but not exactly like Dark Souls games.


I can take the Switch anywhere, dock it at my computer station, go hand held on the couch, go hand held in the bed. or (now that I own a OLED, I have 2 docks. 1 for the computer room, other for the living room). If i really wanted to, I could purchase a 3rd dock and place it in my bedroom. Then I can literally go from computer room, living room and bedroom in handheld mode or docked mode.

I used to do this with my ps4 but it becomes a PITA.


If I wanted to use my PS4 in bed, I'd have to remove ethernet, HDMI and Power Cord. Transfer PS4, Power Cable to bedroom, hook it up, switch to wifi (we all know how wifi multiplayer games go) and play. Then I'd have to remove all that and transfer it all back to the computer room once I wanted to play in the computer room.


this is a long winded explanation of why I prefer my Switch over any other console including the more powerful Pc powered hand helds.




With the Ps5 pro, I'd have to stay at the computer room ( I hate lugging over a big console for 1 night just to play for a few hours and lug it back to the main room).


i don't care about graphics or FPS. I play Overwatch 2 and Warframe on my Switch. I truly don't care at all about FPS or graphics. If it can run at 30fps and be decently stable, thats all i want.
