Just to be clear, and in case you weren’t aware…….
I tell manufacturers in advance that they cannot buy my reviews and they either accept that I will be totally honest in my reviews, or don’t give me a unit to review!
In fairness to Viofo for this review, I delayed posting this until after I’d spoken with them and I’d proved the sample unit they sent had a fault. They even offered an upgraded unit for review, but as I’d already shot 75% of the review I actually asked for the same model ….. which they then shipped to me directly themselves so all my footage and hard work wouldn’t be wasted! ✊🏻
As an example of my brutal integrity in reviews, even having warned one particular manufacturer by email of my honest approach in advance of meeting them, when I met their International Business Development Manager and I reminded him that I only make honest reviews, he actually said to me (in front of his boss!) “….. Ah yes, what was it you said, ‘if your product is crap I will tell people!’” ……. as he passed me the
That company (I won’t name them) were confident enough, knowing I would be brutally honest about their product, to STILL give it to me for my review.
EVERY product has its flaws, even the 622GW that I choose to use that I bought with my own money. However, as long as the features and benefits for the individual user outweigh the negatives for the price paid, then it’s worth it. 🤷🏼‍♂️
A £60 dash cam won’t beat a £260 dash cam for outright performance, but when you look at bang for buck, the expensive unit can still easily lose to the underdog 😉
I will ALWAYS tell you if I think it’s not a bad buy for the money or if quite frankly it’s shite! 💩
I hope you like these reviews, as they take 10 times longer to make than the compilations and actually cost me money to make, especially as they only get about 5% of the views 😢

Note that the dash cam can take a 256gb Micro SD card, and I would recommend upgrading to it. You also CANNOT add a rear camera to this dash cam. The polarising lens is (currently) £16 off Amazon, but you can save a little elsewhere (found it on ebay for £13.20 but is shipped from China) and fits both the A119 and A129 sets.

I never got round to reviewing my A129 Plus Duo (Duo just meaning rear camera), the parking mode was questionable. The motion detection could not be turned off, so if you park on a busy street/area, it'll always be recording. Not sure if this is the case in this version of the camera, but I feel it probably is.

(Will also mention the rear camera is strange. If there's a problem with the car battery or the power connection is inconsistent, the rear camera has trouble staying on and will stop the camera recording. I've recently changed my 12v plug and it seems to have gone)

and seeing as I spent the time writing this. I would like to win this, so I can set up a side camera, to see all those nasty people who don't indicate properly (or at all) at roundabouts 😇

I have this exact same dash cam and pretty much agreed with everything on the review. Overall it's a very good camera for the price....more than adequate for the average user....certainly a very nice bit of kit for free!

Nice compact unit, would very useful for the rear mounting on my car. My question is how good is the pads, will take direct sunlight on the pads. As most will unattach in very hot weather?.

My old cam is starting to do odd things when using the protect button. It should make a 1m file on the side and leave normal video files untouched but its doing stuff where parts of the 1m protected file is coming out of the normal videos flow some how and other times it doesn't save the 3m loop normal file for that incident. So I could really use a new camera, especially one that's hardwired.

Early morning in town picture was quite excellent it seemed. Apart from everything else you mentioned it seemed to me that using the buttons would be pushing the camera off it's sticky pad which is at the top and buttons at the bottom, I think that would seriously shorten the life of the stickiness of the pad. Just my opinion, others are available. Another great review Gadget.

How your G sensor in Parking Mode works? Moving sensor is working fine, but G sensor is to slow, you have to hit the care very bad to start record!

The screen is small and difficult to see. Cannot be adjusted in horizontal mode. Difficult to read the menu when mounted. There are better options like the Red Tigar.

I watched this video because I am currently thinking of buying this particular dashcam - it meets all my needs and I believe you can actually purchase a suction mount that allows more movement to set the camera exactly where it suits you best.

Ive been eying this cam for some time now and i am wondering if lower resolutions push the clarity a bit more? 4K def. isn't native and i prefer 60 fps anyway.

Or would you advice sticking to 4k for the viewing angle?

hy don't you say anything about the start time and the stop time??
viofo a119v3 camera = when starting, it actually starts recording after approx. 15 seconds ... and when it stops, there is no sound warning. mini or mini2 have the same problem?
