Waiting for A529Pro that uses coax cable, has 4 or 5 channels with tele lens, and two side cams, 😅

Thanks for the clip. I live in Australia so the heat in summer plays a big part. Sounds like the A329 Collingwood option would benefit me down here. It is going to be our 1st dash cam and I think the Viofo sounds like the best option after much research. Appreciate your hard work mate.

Video Idea: How video bit rate affects detail resolution (legibility) and which cams have the highest bit rate

If I don’t have the dash cam but I’m buying a brand new car, which would you suggest: the a229 pro versus the A329?

Hey there! Thanks for the info. Bought the A329 (2/25/25), had a problem setting the time! Firmware fixed it. It seems one could not choose "negative" GMT before the firmware update, or I couldn't. FIX: Format card in cam, take out card and download the newest firmware available from PC to card. Put card back in, update takes place upon power up of cam. Either way, always nice to have latest firmware, and it's not that tough to accomplish!

I came for a better understanding. I left with more questions. Successful video.

Proud owner of a A119 for 5 years now - it is wired on ignition on only (not constant power) and hasn't skipped a beat. I use SD cards specifically made for hot environments and haven't had any issues. I live in Australia and the car can get hot up to 60C inside in summer and the camera still works fine. I might be one of the lucky ones, as I read some comments from people below claiming their A129 failed them sooner rather than later. By the way, I also did flash the latest official firmware I could find when I bought it many years ago, so perhaps a combination of factors helps prolong the life of the device?

I run the A229 Pro 3-channel. My wife and I drive Jeeps, and the interior camera is fun to watch after obstacles. Since the A329 didn't offer the 3rd channel, we opted for the A229-pro 3ch for her jeep. Installed it last week.

I ran my Viofo A119S since 2017, just a few days ago it passed on to the dashcam gods and wont turn back on. It did me good 7 years. I live in south Louisiana where the heat can sometimes be really bad. I bought a Viofo A129 Pro for my mom's car and that camera back in October of last year and she never has had issues with it. I believe I'm gonna get the A329 2 channel for my truck. I bought a nextbase dashcam for my truck but the quality of it is not on par, you get what you pay for with dashcams.

Is there ANY dash cam or 2 sets of dash cams I can use to run 360 degree recording but NOT record inside the car? I've thought about 2 sets of Viofos with one controlled by a bluetooth button. It's annoying as all heck you can't control multiple cameras with a singular button. OR get a 3 channel that has 2 of the same secondary cameras and then a singular cam for the back. I have a '23 Wagoneer and it's so big, I want to have cameras looking out each side. But I drive high profile clients and do NOT want any cam that records the interior.

I recommended the A229 Pro to my dad this morning because it's quite a bit cheaper than the 329 currently.

As I told you yesterday I just ordered the A229 Pro so I will not be upgrading and like the specs on it, and especially the option of a 3rd cam inside the car.

Viofo cams with rear camera cause problems with TPMS systems in 2019 and up GM trucks. (Silverado and Sierra trucks). Unless you mount the front camera at the far right of the windshield and run the rear camera cable down the passenger side, you'll have problems with your TPMS system. Unplug the rear cam and the TPMS system works fine. The reason for this is the TPMS receiver AND antenna are in the headliner near the center of the vehicle and near the windshield. And the camera cable should have a shield that is grounded to the vehicle ground to prevent this interference.
I love my Viofo 4k cam, but I can't use my rear camera unless I move my front camera to the right side of the truck, and I'm. not willing to do that.

I would love to see an A229 Pro settings and walkthrough/how-to video. I JUST got the A229 Pro during the last Prime Day sale and was bummed to see waiting a little would have given me another option but like you said, it’s not a “must do” upgrade.

Interesting... I wondered about the upgrade too... (I've got 2 A229 Pro's) but for me, the big thing is HEAT.. I wish VIOFO had a 2 pack 1 channelA229 PRO / or A329 systems. What I'd like to know is how much extra heat is generated when you attach either the 2 or 3 channel options. I see using 2 1-channel A229 PRO / A329 cam's as being the way to go.. sure it's a bit more expensive but I also suspect that kind of configuration would have less incidence of system crash / failure / need to restart because of heat.

Now, here's what I'd really like... I'd like a remote head unit that has cable'a going to the cameras... where the head unit could be away and out of the way of sunlight... (DUH!) and have a 4 or perhaps a 6 channel system where all the data is stored on an external device (SSD's) each on their own data channel. Doing this would allow VIOFO to include a cooling fan in the head unit to ensure it's not hot! BTW.. having a "head unit" away from the camera would let all the cameras 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 channel systems all have the same resolution... time stamps, and everything else... but then again what would I know... ??? Hmmm?

Do you know if VIOFO is looking to use the IMX678 video chips in for all the cameras in the future?

I got the a329. I wish there was an option in the GUI to transfer videos to external ssd. So far it's pretty hassle free, i didn't change much in settings beyond changing to wide resolutions. Quality looks good. Comes with 3 of those anti static mounting sheets which should absolutely be used for BOTH front and rear, and the sheets can be reused.

This video actually helped me - I have A229 Pro and was thinking if A329 is worth it. But no - the only thing I'll buy new is the new bluetooth button which seems nice :) But that external SSD seems like great feature if you can have it as a backup to SD card (like if you need to grab footage you can take SSD and keep SD card in to keep for example park mode running)

Also for me Viofo is super reliable and I live in area that swings between -10°C up to 40°C ( 14 - 104 °F) - the only fail I had was SD card but it was card itself - wouldn't even show in PC.

Ijust got the 229 pro. I was going to use the interior cam to look out the drivers side. But I do actually like it being used as intended. I just wish they would make the zoom camera available to connect to the front and still leave the rear camera as an option
