in the 1979-80 season Lakers won in LA 123-105 and 100-98 in Boston for the sweep. Lakers won the NBA title. Bird won MVP because he helped make the Celtics a playoff team; they were trash the year before.

The arguments over who was better are ridiculous. Magic was the better point guard and Bird was the better forward.

Lakers wouldn't have beaten Boston in 1986 if they got by the Rockets and the same can be said that Boston wouldn't have beaten the Lakers in 1980 or 1982 if they had gotten past the Sixers.

Rockets were the Lakers nemesis in the playoffs just like the Sixers were the Celtics nemesis in the playoffs.

Lakers had a legit NBA Dynasty in the 80's and nothing can be taken away from that fact and what ifs never count.
