When I checked my phone Google was set to access the microphone all the time. Google seem to be by far the worst offenders here.

I recently talked to my brother about how Google might be listening to me and today I was recommended this video.

Or we could just leave our phones at home when we go somewhere and live like we did back in the 90s. When someone wanted to call us when we were out of the house, they had to leave a message. And somehow we all survived it.

I really appreciate your channel. As a person who is a few years away from being 80 years old, I need all the help I can get just to stay relevant!! Your tips are so helpful. Of course, I’d like you to speak MUCH SLOWER, but as I said, nearly 80 so there’s that! Well done you two ! Your very helpful to me.

"Do not track" just includes a tag in your web requests asking the server not to track you, which will be completely ignored by any server that actually does any tracking of users.

I used to have an Alexa until one day I lost my wallet. I happen to mention it to a friend in the presence of my Alexa, and the next day I'm seeing ads for wallets on my computer. A week later I threw my Alexa in the trash. I recommend that action for anybody else who owns one, or any of the other clones like it.

There is absolutely no way you can be completely private living in a modern electronic world. The phones are tracked, computer usage is monitored and tracked, your financial history is tracked, cars are tracked, cameras are everywhere, shops, buses, highstreets, roads, door bells etc. The only way to be completely private is to buy a small holding somewhere in the middle of nowhere and live off-grid. However, I love hot water and hot showers, flushable toilets, gaming, tv and movies, and having fast food delivered to my door, so I guess I'll never be free. I bet even when I'm gone a camera will be watching my grave to make certain I'm not gonna make a bunk for freedom 😆

I think this is about a lot more than "marketing profiles" but the truth would both scare and enrage us so we'll just go with "its just for marketing profiles". Great video guys, thanks! 😉

Yes!! They listen!! My wife and I were listening to a t.v. show, that mentioned a certain town in western Va. My wife and I were both familiar with it. But while they showed pics of that town, their actual story was about a town in Tenn, w/same name. We started laughing, and my wife asked if I knew where the town was in Tenn. I said yes, about 125 mi SE of Va. town. IMMEDIATELY, GOOGLE Maps automatically came on my phone( phone laying on end table beside me) and gave programmed route from my house to town in Tenn.!! All that BEFORE I even touched my phone!! YES!! THEY LISTEN!!

If you need Alexa to change a soundtrack for you or switch on your AC, you need to loosen up your schedule a smidge.

A month ago my mom was asking me where she can buy rocksalt. I told her the best place in down is Tractor Supply. I had never typed those words on my phone previously, but the very next day YouTube started serving ads for Tractor Supply.

It also listens and connect ads back to you through other peoples phones. Mine was in my car while I hung out with a friend. What we discussed popped up on my phone later that day.

Just imagine the use that a government can put to it, it is the end of free will. Today the phone does not belong to you, you simply paid for it, but you have absolutely no control over what it does.

I love this channel... I don't understand a lot about phones and you explained things very well... also I thought you did a great job of visualization of the phone and where things are located. Thank you very much!!

...you guys are my go-to for my android phone...we tend to "think" we know everything going on with our devices...quite the contrary...my nightmare is updates that change my settings and the difficulty finding them again...even in this video some of my screens are different from what you show. I have come to the conclusion it's simpler to just turn off all choices to a particular app than guessing which ones. In the end, at least with android, if an app needs a permission it will tell me and I click and it takes you to that permission which it needs...thanks guys 😊

Thanks. And, fyi; There is a really good reason Tic-Tok is barred from US Government phones. They may have downplayed it in the news a bit but it Really matters.
