Always there is a question in the mind of Business Analysts about what is CRM & ERP, what are their use. They're almost the same while we learn about them but there is a difference.

Let's understand it with the example of application building. Generally, all application building requires code either you can use languages like JAVA, C, C++, Python, or many more. Usually, it takes a lot of time to complete an app with all the necessary features like a chatbot, add to cart, search, like, etc..

Let's take a deep look at what is features by taking the example of Amazon. Suppose you have to buy any product or let's take books, you add to them your cart & proceed further for the payment gateway & the books got delivered to you in 3 or 4 days. So where you added the books i.e. cart it is the feature.

So if you're building an app you use language coding to build all these features which is time taking where you'll be required database & other elements which can be costly also. These building apps with personal databases & other elements can be afforded by big companies like JP Morgan & many other organizations. But small organizations/businesses cannot afford it because of a lack of money. As it required a team of developers, testers, builders & so on.

To reduce all these expenses & time for business purpose CRM & ERP plays a vital role. They have pre-built features & functionalities.

Examples of CRM Tools - Microsoft Dynamic 365, Salesforce Zoho

Suppose you have to build an app for you customer so you'll subscribe the Microsoft Dynamic 365 where all the features are pre-built. You just have to drag & drop it.

When it comes to CRM it includes customer service relationships, customer service application, marketing application or a sales application. Whereas ERP includes finance application, payroll application or accounting application. When we talk about customers it is related to CRM & if we talk about the internal thing like management, HR this is ERP.

Concluding it, CRM & ERP are very useful for building an app from the ground instead you can use pre-built features where can customize them to a certain extent with low code or no code.

How this is relevant to Business Analyst
Suppose a customer comes & his requirement is to have Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Analyst. So you can get familiar with these CRM tools from the user perspective, segments like field servers, customer service, sales marketing etc.. Be familiar from an end-user perspective not from coding or technical purpose. This adds a positive point to your resume that you know about the field service or CRM or marketing strategy so you'll be able to gather information better.
