I spent about a decade on a couple different boats. The memories from that time are some of the best that I have. The submariners bond to one another is unmatched.

My late husband was in the Navy on subs (SSBN and SSN) for 10 years. We got 4 family grams per patrol with blocked words. Families were close and it was a whole different world

Iv never been on a submarine but my entire career has been revolving around hunting enemy subs. Im an aircrew P3 Orion acoustic sensor operator and did IUSS (SOSUS) twice. I worked with US, Japanese, and British sonar techs. Gotta love the community.

I know that for many people, submarine duty is one of the scariest things a person can sign up for me, but for me, it sounds incredibly exciting! The first thing I’m going to do when I graduate high school in 6 months is to sign a contract to join a crew!

a USN submarine is not only a moving weapons platform, that is one aspect. It is an extension of the United States of America.

This vid showcases life on GNs and BNs. Fast attacks are a different story.

Those who lock themselves in a submarine have the biggest balls.

Navy submarines are the coolest thing in the US military

Well, the video mainly shows a converted SSBN/SSGN, mixed in with a few seconds of an actual SSN . Maybe a 688 I Class ( 3rd version ) or newer Seawolf or Virginia Class boat .

Anyway, there's only 2 types of ships .
Submarines and TARGETS ! . . .

Asa submariner in the 70's on a boomer sub. 6 months a year in the northern atlantic doing squares in the n atlantic waiting for a call to launch. We worked in shifts 6 on and 12 off so there was a lot of time on your hands. To do drills. Also we never surfaced do to tell the time of the day we ran red at night, real light during the day. Don't know if they still in do it. I was on a lafayette class now they have tridents. Which I saw being built at groton connecticut. It was 2.5 bigger. FG2

I'm 6'6" and thought I'd never be able to fit in a sub, but the guy said he is 6' and has never hit his head on anything

When I enlisted in the military I wish I had chose this rather than Army. The enlisted life is better and the opportunity outside military is enormous. I have had friends and neighbors at places I've lived who served in the Navy, one worked the nuclear reactor of a submarine, and they went on after the military, to become high paid nuclear plant workers, one became a union welder, and another is a senior IT professional even teaches courses at a college after being a radioman onboard a destroyer. Please choose NAVY over any other branch of service if you want a life!
