North Korean subs run on hopes and dreams

You don’t need to HAVE mineable Uranium, you just need friends that can supply it every 30 years .

My friend is still on a Los Angeles class and yes they get refueled, who told you they don't?

“Subs never need to refuel, but it has to refuel every 30 years”
You got your PhD at HardFord university

The rest of the world: how many can you afford?

U.S Navy: Yes

They just get refuled every 30 years. I think the intention is that it is also a part of a major upgrade, like how they do it with aircraft carriers, so while you are refueling it you also upgrade everything else

Fun thought: crews on nuclear powered subs will likely be some of the last survivors of a nuclear apocalypse.

Spain, we have more uranium than all Europe, we could help, if we mined it and weren't anti-nuclear, each day I go crazier

I wish Australia got into developing nuclear submarines. We have so much uranium, but our government prohibited the development of non-medical nuclear technology decades ago.

You forgot that diesel subs are the most silent

I served on the USS Permit SSN-594 in 1971 at Mare Island Naval Shipyard, Vallejo, CA; I reported to her January 26, 1971. She was getting refueled after 30 years. She was commissioned in 1961. I helped build the USS Seawolf SSN-21, the Los Angeles class, and the Ohio class submarines. Submarine duty and building them was an adventure for me.

Whilst we have more than enough uranium, we don't have the means to enrich it. But when your best buds offer to help you out, you don't need to - Australia

First of all: Diesel submarines can indeed submerge for weeks under the water.. Last Time they were that inefficient was in WW2... 2nd: Diesels are much more silent, especially when unser the water so they can't be spotted that easy. 3rd: shortly: they are smaller... Much smaller

How about the air independent diesel subs those things are deadly as hell, a Aircraft carrier strike group got clapped by a Swedish sub

USS Pennsylvania has been going since 2001 (I think. Correct me if I'm wrong) and hasn't needed fuel since. They say the only limited supplies they have is food for the crew

Diesel is still pretty good.
It is a lot quieter than nuclear.
However just as the video mentioned,
It can only be submerged for a few days at best and has a low range as it can only travel so far before needing to visit a port.
Nuclear are a bit louder but better for long distance and can stay up to 90 days (subs can only have food and munitions for 90days max)
